A four-day intensive training programme for National Trainers (Batch II) for the second phase of Census 2027 i.e. Population Enumeration (PE) was conducted from 7–10 September 2026 at Janganana Bhawan, New Delhi.
The training brought together participants from States and UTs, with a focus on strengthening preparedness, building capacities and ensuring effective cascading of training for the smooth conduct of the Population Enumeration phase. Emphasising the importance of training at every level, Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner Shri Mritunjay Kumar Narayan highlighted that the quality of training imparted to Enumerators and Supervisors at the field level will be crucial to ensuring quality of Census data. The RGI&CC also called for prioritising publicity and awareness to sensitise respondents and encourage their active participation in the Census process.
The training programme also featured an expert session on disability and inclusion, with experts nominated by Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (Divyangjan), under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, and the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), Regional Centre, Noida. They shared valuable insights on the needs and perspectives of Divyaangjan and the importance of an inclusive approach in Census operations.
