The Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce🇮🇳🇨🇦hosted a business reception for the visiting delegation from the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, providing a platform to explore opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation and business partnerships.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner, highlighted the remarkable transformation of India’s MSME sector, driven by digitalisation, an expanding global presence, and its growing contribution to employment generation, exports and resilient supply chains.

He also highlighted how various schemes and initiatives of the Government of India are empowering MSMEs, strengthening entrepreneurship and unlocking new avenues for growth. Emphasising that MSMEs are the growth engine of India, he underscored the pivotal role of small enterprises in shaping the country’s next phase of economic growth and called for stronger international partnerships to accelerate this journey.

The Indian MSME delegation held a meeting with Mr. Gary Lacasse, Executive Director of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada (ADRIC), and its representatives. The discussions focused on the exchange of best practices and potential collaboration between Canada’s Alternative Dispute Resolution framework and India’s MSME Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) mechanism.

Discussions covered online arbitration, accreditation and capacity building of arbitrators, curriculum development and strengthening research and institutional capacity to provide a faster and expeditious dispute resolution framework for MSMEs.
