स्वच्छ भारत अभियान के तहत स्वच्छ और हरित वातावरण के निर्माण की दिशा में एक सार्थक पहल करते हुए राष्ट्रीय नदी संरक्षण निदेशालय में Plantation Drive का आयोजन किया गया।

इस अवसर पर श्री ज़ैग़म अली ख़ान, संयुक्त सचिव, NRCD एवं सदस्य (वित्त एवं मानव संसाधन), केंद्रीय भूजल बोर्ड (CGWB), जल संसाधन, नदी विकास एवं गंगा पुनर्जीवन विभाग (DoWR, RD&GR), जल शक्ति मंत्रालय ने NRCD के अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों के साथ पौधारोपण किया।

यह पहल स्वच्छता, हरियाली और पर्यावरण संरक्षण के प्रति सामूहिक प्रतिबद्धता को और मजबूत करती है।

महानदी के किनारे कुछ जगहें सिर्फ नदी का हिस्सा नहीं, बल्कि जैव-विविधता के लिए बेहद महत्वपूर्ण habitat हैं।

Satkosia Gorge से लेकर अन्य conservation-priority stretches तक, Mahanadi के कई हिस्सों को संरक्षण और restoration की जरूरत पहचानी गई है।

रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, लगभग 446 km stretch को habitat/species management area के रूप में और 405 km को restoration zone के रूप में विकसित करने की सिफारिश की गई है।

क्योंकि नदी को बचाना सिर्फ पानी बचाना नहीं — उससे जुड़े पूरे riverscape को बचाना है।

ज्ञान, जागरूकता और स्वच्छता का संदेश—स्वच्छता पखवाड़ा–2026 के अंतर्गत आयोजित स्वच्छता क्विज़ प्रतियोगिता में वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों एवं प्रतिभागियों की उत्साहपूर्ण सहभागिता।

इस पहल के माध्यम से स्वच्छता के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाने, ज्ञान को प्रोत्साहित करने और स्वच्छ एवं स्वस्थ पर्यावरण के लिए सामूहिक संकल्प को मजबूत करने का संदेश दिया गया।

STP में sewage का treatment हो गया… लेकिन क्या काम यहीं खत्म हो जाता है?

Treatment के दौरान बनने वाले sludge को भी सही तरीके से treat, handle और manage करना ज़रूरी है। बिना उचित management के sludge पर्यावरण और स्वास्थ्य के लिए चिंता का कारण बन सकता है।

इसलिए सिर्फ sewage को treat करना काफी नहीं—sludge का सही management भी ज़रूरी है।

क्या पेरियार की पूरी धारा एक जैसी है? बिल्कुल नहीं।

पेरियार के 158 किलोमीटर लंबे हिस्सों को conservation priority stretches के रूप में चिन्हित किया गया है— 64 km Upper Zone और 94 km Middle–Lower Zone।

इन stretches में नदी से जुड़े महत्वपूर्ण habitats और species conservation की जरूरत को ध्यान में रखा गया है।

9th India International Water Week 2026 | Valedictory Session

From Dialogue to Action — Towards Climate-Resilient Water Management

The Valedictory Session of the 9th India International Water Week 2026 brought together key stakeholders for insightful discussions and reflections on water management, water security and sustainable water solutions in a changing climate.

The session was graced by Shri C. R. Paatil , Hon’ble Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri V. Somanna, Hon’ble Minister of State for Jal Shakti, and Shri Dr. Raj Bhushan Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State for Jal Shakti.

The occasion also witnessed the release of important publications, protocols, modules and reports related to irrigation, river conservation, Jal Jeevan Mission and water resources. These included “Emerging Trends in Sustainable and Efficient Irrigation” and “Advances in Irrigation Technology and Innovative Practices”.

These publications will help share knowledge and practices on improved irrigation, new technologies, water conservation and efficient use of water resources.

The session also featured the distribution of awards across various categories of Exhibition & Poster Presentation, recognising outstanding contributions.

The NRCD stall at India International Water Week 2026 witnessed active participation from the entire NRCD team, with staff members visiting the stall and engaging with the initiatives and activities being showcased.

The visit provided an opportunity for the team to interact with visitors, exchange ideas and discuss key aspects of river conservation, water quality management and sustainable water resource management. The collective participation of the NRCD staff reflected the spirit of teamwork and shared commitment towards strengthening efforts for the conservation and rejuvenation of India’s rivers.

The stall continued to serve as a platform for meaningful engagement, knowledge-sharing and collaboration, bringing together diverse perspectives towards a sustainable and water-secure future.
