Internship Diaries | Department of Management Studies & Industrial Engineering, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad

We are pleased to introduce the first edition of our Internship Diaries series, where we bring forward the internship experiences of our students and their learning beyond the classroom.

In this inaugural chapter, we feature Shyamal Tirkey (MBA 2024 - 2026), who interned as a Project Management Intern at Raj Kumari Foundation. During his internship, he contributed to a social initiative highlighting the role of fathers in child development. His role involved coordinating with creative teams for scripting, direction, and ex*****on, while tracking project milestones to ensure timely delivery.

This experience highlights how impactful storytelling combined with structured project ex*****on can drive meaningful social change, reflecting the value of experiential learning for management students.

The celebration of Saraswati Puja at DMSIE, IIT ISM witnessed enthusiastic participation and heartfelt dedication from students, who came together to seek the blessings of Maa Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. From preparations to rituals, the spirit of devotion, discipline, and collaboration was evident throughout the celebration.
Heartfelt gratitude to Team Rachna for their sincere efforts in planning and organizing the puja with great commitment and coordination. Their dedication and teamwork played a crucial role in making the event smooth, serene, and memorable for the DMSIE community.

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad ( ) recently hosted an insightful Two-Day Pedagogy Workshop (02–03 January 2026) as part of the Capacity Building on Design and Entrepreneurship ( ) initiative Held under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme ( ), the workshop served as a collaborative platform for faculty members and academic experts to explore learner-centric and design-driven instructional methods. 🎓✨

The workshop brought together educators and thought leaders to discuss:

Design Thinking & Innovation Pedagogy 💡

Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset 🚀

Project-Based Learning & Student Engagement 🤝

With a focus on experiential teaching, the programme wrapped up with positive participant feedback and a shared vision for modernizing higher education practices.

Margdarshan 3.0 concluded on a successful note, delivering two enriching days of learning and industry engagement under the Margdarshan Series at the Department of Management Studies & Industrial Engineering (DMSIE), IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Led by Mr. Ashay Sinha, Senior Product Manager at Microsoft, the workshop equipped participants with practical knowledge of Product Management, covering guesstimates, analytical frameworks, and real-world business practices.
