Vishwakarma Puja marks the birth of the Hindu god, Vishwakarma, who is believed to be the creator of the world, and is referred to as the divine architect. Vishwakarma, the son of Lord Brahma, is believed to have created the holy city of Dwarka, Lord Krishna’s ruling kingdom and also the Maya Sabha for the Pandavas, other than having created several palaces and weapons for several Hindu gods. He was called the divine carpenter as well as swayambhu, which means self-existent or to be created by one’s own accord. On this day workers don’t do any professional work and only worship their tools, offering prayers to Lord Vishwakarma to protect them, Hindu Yuva Sanga prays to the Almighty to keep the livelihoods secure and to bring success.🌺🙏

'Dugga Dugga’….. born in this subcontinent we all might have heard this while strolling down the lanes, the vibe of which is felt in the entire northeast too with the onset of Mahalaya. Mahalaya is a Sanskrit word, wherein ‘maha’ means great, and ‘alaya’ implies abode. The goddess is invited and ushered in her home through chants, devotional songs, recitals and prayers. Mahalaya Amavasya marks the culmination of the Pitru Paksha period and the beginning of the Devi Paksha. It also marks the onset of the Sharadiya Navratri season that is dedicated to Maa Durga. The devotees keep a fast for nine days and worship the nine forms of Maa Durga. On this day, the Goddess descends on the earth from her heavenly abode or Kailash on either a palanquin, boat, elephant or horse. Normally, celebrations for Durga Puja begin seven days after Mahalaya. This year the much-awaited festival would be held a month after Mahalaya because of a phenomenon called ‘mala mash’ or a lunar month that has two new moons. During this month, no auspicious festival or rituals can be observed. Bengali month Ashwin is a lunar month, and Durga Puja can only be held after it is over.
It has been a ritual for the people in Bengal, Odisha, Assam and Tripura in waking up at 4 am to turn on the radio and listen to the 90-minute programme ‘Mahisasurmardini’ (Slaying of Mahishasur) on the auspicious day of Mahalaya ushering Durga Puja.
For those in their 20s it might not matter but for the older generation listening to Mahisasura Mardini on radio is a must.
Hindu Yuva Sanga wishes everyone a Shubh Mahalaya and prays to the Goddess of Power to shower her blessings upon all of us and strengthen us in fighting the ailing covid-19.🌺🌹

Hindu Yuva Sanga wishes everyone a Happy Engineer's Day. The day is celebrated every year on September 15 to mark the birthday of Sir Visvesvaraya, Bharat Ratna recipient and engineering pioneer of India. During his tenure as the Diwan of Mysore, Visvesvaraya remodeled the state into what it came to be known as “model state". We the youths of Hindu Yuva Sanga look forward to our engineers towards building a better nation.
