The Arunachal Pradesh government on Wednesday announced a 2 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for serving employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners and family pensioners, raising the existing rate from 58 per cent to 60 per cent of basic pay and pension with effect from January 1, 2026.
The decision was approved by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu following the Centre’s Office Memorandums issued on April 22 and April 24 regarding enhancement of DA and DR for Central government employees and pensioners.
According to an official statement, the revised DA will benefit All India Service officers serving under the Arunachal Pradesh government, Central government employees on deputation to the state, and all regular state government employees. The enhanced DR will similarly apply to pensioners and family pensioners across the state.
The move is expected to benefit around 69,248 regular employees and 40,477 pensioners.
Officials said the annual financial burden on the state exchequer due to the enhancement is estimated at Rs 100.54 crore, including Rs 83.31 crore towards DA and Rs 17.24 crore towards DR.
Arrears from January to April 2026 will be paid in cash, involving an additional estimated expenditure of Rs 33.51 crore. The enhanced DA and DR from May onwards will be disbursed along with monthly salaries and pensions.
The total financial implication, including arrears, is estimated at Rs 117.30 crore.
Congratulating government employees, Chief Minister Khandu expressed hope that the workforce would continue serving the people with dedication and ensure welfare benefits reach “the last man in the queue.”
