In a significant move toward strengthening water security and climate resilience in the Indian Himalayan Region, the CGWB-NER, and Govind Ballabh Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, North-East Regional Centre (GBPNIHE-NERC), have signed a Letter of Agreement (LoA) to undertake a collaborative scientific study titled “Mapping, Assessment, and Rejuvenation of Vulnerable Springs in Arunachal Pradesh”. The agreement was formally signed by Tapan Chakraborty (Regional Director) on behalf of CGWB-NER and Paromita Ghosh (Head & Scientist-F) on behalf of GBPNIHE-NERC in the presence of scientists, hydrogeologists, and technical experts from both the institutions.

Sh. T. B. N. Singh, Member (I&R), visited project sites of the Kala Amb Valley Artificial Recharge Project comprising seven Check Dams (CDs) and 12 Recharge Wells in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, from 24.05.2026 to 25.05.2026 along with Sh. Ravikalyan, Scientist-D; Dr. K. Rajarajan, Scientist-D; Dr. Shashi Kant Singh, Scientist-D; and Sh. Shubranshu Sharma, DIC, from CGWB, CHQ, Faridabad.
During the visit, Sh. Manohar, Scientist-B, and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Pandey, Scientist-D, from CGWB, NHR, Dharmashala, along with Sh. Abhinav Banta, HoO, Division-XVII, showed all the Artificial Recharge (AR) sites in the field and briefed the Member (I&R) and the Contractor, M/s N. S. Associates, New Delhi, about the dimensions and other technical details of the structures for ex*****on of the construction work.
The Member (I&R) also inspected the on going piezometer drilling site at Mattar, Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, and held discussions with the drilling crew regarding the ongoing work.
Further, the Member convened a meeting with officials of the Jal Shakti Vibhag, Government of Himachal Pradesh, and the contractor on 25.05.2026 at Black Mango Resort, Kala Amb, discussed the smooth ex*****on and timely completion of the project.

A collaborative meeting was convened on 18.05.2026 between scientists from CSIR-AMPRI and officers of CGWB under the chairmanship of the Regional Director regarding a research project under INCGW. The project aims at the design & development of a nano-engineered portable sensor for onsite detection of heavy metal ions, including Fe, Pb, Cd, As, and Cu.

Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Western Region, Jaipur, under the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, organized a **Training-cum-Workshop on “Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace (POSH Act, 2013)”**on 25.05.2026 with the objective of creating awareness among employees about their rights and responsibilities under the POSH Act and promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment. The programme began with the address of Shri R. K. Kushwaha, Regional Director, CGWB, WR Jaipur on the importance of POSH act and the need of spreading awareness among the employees regarding this act that mandates measures for the prevention, prohibition, and redressal of sexual harassment at the workplace and emphasizes the role of Internal Complaints Committees (ICC) in ensuring effective grievance redressal.
The workshop featured an insightful lecture by **Mrs. Antra Shukla, Director, Piramal Foundation**, who served as the resource person for the session. Through interactive discussions and short activities, she explained the key provisions of the POSH Act, 2013, the responsibilities of employees and employers, the complaint mechanism, and the importance of maintaining dignity, equality, and mutual respect in the workplace. Smt Preeti Pandey, Sc- C CGWB, WR briefed about the composition and role of ICC in the office. The programme witnessed active participation from CGWB officials and staff members, reinforcing the organization's commitment to fostering a gender-sensitive and harassment-free workplace.

The 1st meeting of SLC on GWRA-2026 for Union Territory of Puducherry was convened on 13.05.2026 in the Chamber of Secretary, Agriculture, Chief Secretariat, Puducherry under the chairmanship of Shri Choudhary Mohammed Yasin, I.A.S, Secretary, Agriculture, Govt of Puducherry and Chairman of SLC . Regional Director, Dr S. Subramanian extended his welcome key note address of the SLC meeting followed by release of the State Report on GWRA of Union Territory of Puducherry, 2025 by the Secretary along with all SLC members. Dr. S. Subramanian gave a detailed presentation of GWRA details and shared the step by step data collection and activities to be carried out as per timeline of GWRA. The meeting was concluded with the vote of thanks by Director, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Puducherry.

A workshop was organized on 18.05.2025 at the Collector Office, Narmadapuram, under the chairmanship of DM Shri Somesh Mishra and CEO, ZP Shri Himanshu Jain, with participation of more than 100 representatives from various State Government departments to disseminate the key findings of the NAQUIM Report of Narmadapuram district, Madhya Pradesh.
The report was appreciated for its utility in district planning and implementation of various schemes. Discussions were also held on regulation of groundwater use in Bankhedi Block, recharge through defunct borewells as per CGWB guidelines, and integration of the report findings into MGNREGA and other developmental activities.

Members (Innovation & Rejuvenation) and (Policy & Coordination), CGWB, today inaugurated the Aquasense ATBC smart groundwater telemetry system at CGWB CHQ, Bhujal Bhawan, NIT 4, Faridabad, together with CGWB scientists and field engineers from MMS and other wings.
CGWB engineers, in close collaboration with the Aquasense technical team, have integrated the IoT based ATBC controller, flow meter and live dashboard on a demo borewell to capture real time abstraction, flow rate, borewell level and pump health, with alerts for over extraction and system faults.
This joint CGWB–Aquasense effort demonstrates how advanced telemetry with control can support digital NOC compliance, transparent data for policy and more sustainable groundwater management under the Jal Shakti framework.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on sustainable groundwater management was signed between Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Rajiv Gandhi National Ground Water Training and Research Institute, Raipur, regarding groundwater-related activities, in the presence of the Secretary, DOWR, and Member (Innovation), on 15/05/2026 at RGNGWTRI, Raipur.
