We at APPSC IIT Gandhinagar are deeply saddened for the concerned faculty member at the IIT Madras who had to leave the institution owing to severe caste discrimination in multiple instances. We strongly condemn such ghastly and inhuman treatment meted out to a fellow teacher by his own faculty counterparts. IITs are, without a shred of doubt, inherently casteist and function in a systematic process to double down on the oppressions of the Bahajuns. The establishment of SC/ST minority cells are the immediate need of the hour.

Egalitarians, a not-for-profit voluntary organisation working to democratise Indian academia, and Mr Siddharth (an alumnus of IITB) approached different IITs seeking caste and gender diversity details in PhD admissions and teaching faculty composition, under the Right to Information (RTI) act 2005.
