Today, I was pleased to witness the initiative of the “Lhali Kumo” Gurung Handloom & Textile Centre at Pasting, under the 20-Chujachen Constituency, East Sikkim.
This initiative promotes women’s empowerment, skill development and the preservation of our rich Gurung cultural heritage. By encouraging traditional handloom and textile craftsmanship, it opens avenues for local women to strengthen their skills, pursue livelihood opportunities and move towards greater economic self-reliance.
I extend my sincere appreciation to the Indian Army for supporting this meaningful initiative and contributing to the welfare and development of our local communities.
As we move forward, preserving our traditions while creating opportunities for our people remains an important part of building a stronger and more self-reliant Chujachen.
Preserving our heritage. Empowering our women. Building a brighter future for Chujachen.
