Biswakarma Puja Greetings | 17 September 2026.

On the auspicious occasion of Biswakarma Puja, I extend my heartfelt greetings and deepest respect to all Driver Guruji, factory workers, carpenters, mechanics, technicians, artisans, builders, craftsmen, and every hardworking individual contributing to the progress of Sikkim.

Lord Biswakarma, revered as the divine architect and creator, symbolises craftsmanship, engineering, skill, creativity and the dignity of labour. His worship reminds us that every creation begins with a skilled mind, dedicated hands and honest work.

On this day, I offer a special salute to our Driver Guruji the backbone of Sikkim’s tourism industry and our frontline ambassadors. Every day, they navigate difficult mountain roads, rain, fog, landslides and uncertainty, often risking their own lives to ensure that others reach their destinations safely.

We may remember the destination, but we must never forget the person who safely took us there.

As Sikkim moves into a new era of growth and resilience, let us remember that a stronger Sikkim will not be built by infrastructure alone. It will be built by the skill, sweat, courage and dedication of its working people.

May Lord Biswakarma bless every working hand with safety, strength, skill, dignity and prosperity, and inspire us to build a Sikkim that values every worker and every contribution.

Your work may not always make headlines, but Sikkim moves forward because of you.

Happy Biswakarma Puja!

National Engineers’ Day 2026 | 15 September

On the occasion of National Engineers’ Day, I extend my warm greetings and appreciation to all the engineers of Sikkim and across India.

15 September is observed as National Engineers’ Day in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of India’s greatest engineers, statesmen and nation-builders. His remarkable contribution to engineering, irrigation, water management and infrastructure development, along with his vision for modernising India, continues to inspire generations of engineers. The day is an opportunity to recognise the invaluable contribution of engineers to the progress, development and well-being of society.

For Sikkim, however, engineering and development come with a special responsibility. Our state is situated in the fragile Himalayan ecosystem, where the terrain, geology, rivers, forests and biodiversity are highly sensitive. At the same time, construction and infrastructure development are taking place across almost every part of the state.

In this situation, our engineers have a crucial role to play not only in designing and building infrastructure, but in ensuring that development is safe, sustainable, climate-resilient and sensitive to Sikkim’s unique environment.

There is a need to embrace new technologies, innovative engineering practices and construction methods that are nature-friendly and suited to the Himalayan terrain. Every road, bridge, building, drainage system and infrastructure project must be planned with due consideration for natural slopes, water channels, forests, rivers and the long-term ecological consequences.

Development and environmental protection should not be seen as competing priorities. With the right engineering approach, development can become more resilient while respecting and protecting nature.

On this National Engineers’ Day, let us recognise our engineers not only as builders of infrastructure, but as custodians of a sustainable future. Their knowledge and innovation can help Sikkim progress without compromising the natural heritage that makes our state unique.

Let us remember the vision of Sir M. Visvesvaraya and carry forward the spirit of innovation, excellence, responsibility and nation-building.

Wishing all the engineers of Sikkim a very Happy National Engineers’ Day.

Build with innovation. Develop with responsibility. Progress in harmony with nature.

Heartiest Greetings on the Auspicious Occasion of Teej.

On this auspicious occasion of Haritalika Teej, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt wishes to all the mothers, sisters, daughters, and women of Sikkim.

Teej is not merely a festival, it is a celebration of faith, devotion, love, togetherness, womanhood, and the enduring strength of women. It is a special occasion that brings women together to celebrate their relationships, traditions, cultural identity, and the values that bind families and communities together.

For generations, the women of Sikkim have played an extraordinary role in nurturing families, preserving our rich traditions and culture, strengthening communities, and contributing meaningfully to the social and economic progress of our State. Their courage, resilience, compassion, and determination continue to inspire us all.

On this special day, let us also reaffirm our commitment to creating a society where every woman is respected, empowered, heard, and provided with equal opportunities to learn, lead, work, and fulfil her aspirations. The progress of our families, communities, and Sikkim as a whole is incomplete without the meaningful participation and leadership of our women.

May this sacred festival bring happiness, peace, good health, prosperity, and renewed hope into the lives of every mother, sister, and daughter of Sikkim. May the bonds of love and togetherness grow stronger, and may every woman be blessed with the strength and confidence to pursue her dreams.

Let us celebrate Teej with joy while honouring the strength, dignity, contribution, and spirit of every woman who makes our society stronger.

Wishing all the wonderful women of Sikkim a very Happy, Peaceful and Blessed Teej!

With warm regards,
Ganesh Kumar Rai

TEACHERS’ DAY MESSAGE | 5 September 2026

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings and deepest respect to all the teachers of Sikkim who dedicate themselves to shaping the minds, character and future of our children.

Teachers’ Day is celebrated across India on September 5 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s first Vice President and second President, a distinguished philosopher, scholar and educationist. When his students and admirers wished to celebrate his birthday, Dr. Radhakrishnan suggested that the day instead be observed as Teachers’ Day. Since then, September 5 has become a day to recognise and honour the invaluable contribution of teachers to society and the nation.

Teachers do much more than impart knowledge. They inspire curiosity, nurture values, build confidence and discipline, and guide young minds towards becoming responsible and compassionate citizens. The influence of a good teacher often extends far beyond the classroom and remains with a student throughout life.

Today, however, the responsibility of teachers has become even greater. We are living in a rapidly evolving world shaped by Artificial Intelligence, digital technology, social media and new forms of learning. The students of today are growing up in an environment vastly different from previous generations. Teachers therefore have the responsibility not only to impart academic knowledge but also to help students understand, adapt to and responsibly navigate these emerging technologies.

The teachers of Sikkim carry an especially important responsibility in preparing our young generation for this changing world. While equipping students with modern knowledge and technological skills, our teachers must also nurture our values, culture, traditions, environment and strong sense of community. We must ensure that progress and technology go hand in hand with character, compassion and social responsibility.

A strong education system begins with empowered, respected and well-supported teachers. If we want to build a progressive, capable and responsible Sikkim, we must invest in our teachers and recognise the vital role they play in shaping our future.

On this Teachers’ Day, I salute every teacher of Sikkim for your dedication, patience, commitment and countless contributions to the lives of our children.

Happy Teachers’ Day to all the teachers of Sikkim!

“Your classroom may be small, but the future you shape is limitless”.

On the sacred occasion of Rakhi, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt wishes to the people of Sikkim, especially to all brothers and sisters across our state.

Rakhi is a celebration of a bond that transcends the ritual of tying a thread. It represents trust, affection, mutual respect, responsibility, and the enduring commitment to stand by one another through the journey of life. In its deeper social and cultural meaning, the festival reminds us that the strength of a society rests upon the values of care, dignity, compassion, and solidarity.

For a diverse and harmonious society like Sikkim, these values hold particular significance. Let this occasion inspire us to strengthen the bonds that unite us, to respect one another’s aspirations and dignity, and to foster a culture where every individual feels protected, valued, and included.

May this Rakhi bring peace and happiness to every household and renew our collective commitment towards building a more compassionate, harmonious, just, and prosperous Sikkim.

My sincere wishes for the well-being and happiness of every family in our beautiful state.

Happy Rakhi to the people of Sikkim.

Message on the Occasion of World Entrepreneur Day 2026 | 21 August 2026

On the occasion of World Entrepreneur Day 2026, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim, particularly our young people who are increasingly looking towards entrepreneurship with new aspirations, courage and hope.

Sikkim stands at an important juncture in its economic journey. Our greatest strength is not merely our natural resources or scenic beauty, but our young, talented and aspirational population. The State possesses enormous potential for entrepreneurship across tourism, agriculture and allied sectors, organic and value-added products, traditional crafts, technology, creative industries, renewable energy, hospitality and emerging services.

For decades, the aspiration for a secure government job has remained deeply rooted in our society. That aspiration is understandable, but the economic realities of the future demand that we broaden our vision. Government cannot and should not remain the sole source of employment. A resilient economy requires entrepreneurs, innovators, cooperatives, professionals, farmers, small businesses and enterprises capable of creating opportunities for others.

Entrepreneurship must therefore be viewed not merely as an alternative to government employment, but as a strategic instrument for economic transformation, self-reliance and sustainable development.

Our young people should not only seek employment; they must increasingly be empowered to become creators of employment. This requires more than encouragement. It requires access to affordable finance, mentorship, modern skills, technology, markets, incubation, infrastructure and a policy environment where genuine enterprise is supported rather than constrained by unnecessary procedural barriers.

Sikkim also does not need to blindly replicate entrepreneurial models from larger states. Our opportunities must emerge from our own strengths—our Himalayan environment, biodiversity, agriculture, tourism, culture, traditional knowledge, crafts and the creativity of our people. With the right ecosystem, a small enterprise originating in a village of Sikkim can serve markets far beyond the State.

The Citizen Action Party–Sikkim believes that entrepreneurship must become an important pillar of Sikkim’s future economy. When the Citizen Action Party–Sikkim forms the Citizens’ Government in 2029, greater emphasis will be placed on building a comprehensive and enabling entrepreneurial ecosystem, particularly for our youth. Our objective will be to move beyond the traditional approach of merely providing employment and towards creating conditions in which young people can build enterprises, generate employment and contribute directly to the State’s economic growth.

Such a vision will require stronger institutional support, easier access to finance, entrepreneurship and skill-development programmes, market linkages, technology adoption, incubation and mentorship, and greater encouragement for enterprises rooted in Sikkim’s local economy. We must also ensure that entrepreneurship reaches beyond urban centres and becomes an avenue of opportunity for young people in our villages and rural communities.

The entrepreneurial spirit is ultimately about seeing possibilities where others see limitations. If we can nurture this spirit among our youth, Sikkim can gradually transition from an economy heavily dependent on government employment towards one driven by enterprise, innovation, productivity and opportunity.

On this World Entrepreneur Day, I call upon the youth of Sikkim to think beyond the conventional definition of a career. Do not only ask where employment is available; ask what opportunities you can create. Do not only become job seekers; aspire to become job creators.

The future of Sikkim cannot be built only by seeking opportunities that already exist. It must be built by creating new opportunities for generations yet to come.
