Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Kamrup Metropolitan District

As a part of "Menstrual Hygiene Day,2024" a sensitization cm distribution programme has been organised by SANKALP HEW Kamrup Metro in collaboration with Education Department & Health Department at Dakshin Beltola Highschool on 28th May,2024 under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. Health & Hygiene , Importance of Menstrual Hygiene Management and how it's related to reproductive health etc. topics were covered in the programme. In the programme ,160 Nos.of Participants including students & teachers were present. At the end of the Programme sanitary napkins were distributed among the girl students.

The International Girl Child Day was celebrated in Kamrup Metropolitan District on 11th Oct, 2022 under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme at Nartap M.E. School under Dimoria Development Block. The programme was organised by District Social Welfare Office, Kamrup Metro in collaboration with supported by District Hub for Empowerment of Women. The activities were started with a cycle rally from the premises of the school where 100 Nos. of students, Officials from Panchayat & Rural Development dept, local community, teachers were participated. The rally was flagged off by Sri Debajit Borah, District Social Welfare Officer and BDO, Dimoria Development Block and DHEW team also highlighted the theme of IGCD,2022 “Our Time is now—our rights, our future”. and addressed the participants.
Secondly, a session on STEM and Artificial Intelligence, Coding & Robotics among the students was taken by “Educative Guwahati” as this year’s theme focuses on non-traditional skills and with the objective to encourage inclination of the girls towards these subjects and build up their confidence in the subjects, and to motivated the girls to pursue their career in this field. The session was interactive where practical tools and equipment were used.
Moreover, an interaction programme and lunch with girl students under the title ‘Lunch with Laadli’ was also organized. As an initiative motivating students to improve their understanding of education, nutrition, a healthy life style and aspirations, this initiative ensures that students also receive exposure to innovative ideas from the officials. The Programme ended with a cultural programme performed by the students of the Nartap M.E. School.

The Special Programme for Adolescents was organised on 7th Sept,2022 under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme at Ulubari HS School, Pandu, Guwahati by District Administration and District Social Welfare Office, Kamrup Metro along with District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Kamrup Metro in collaboration with Education Department, Kamrup(M)and Educative, Guwahati. The objective of the programme is to aware the participants about value of Girl Child, adolescent related Health & Hygiene issues, Child Rights and Adolescents related acts including issues like Dropouts, early marriage, child abuse, good touch & bad touch, po*******hy addiction etc.

A special awareness drive on Menstrual Hygiene Management under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme, Kamrup Metropolitan in-collaboration with Health Department, Kamrup Metro was organized in the Kishori Panchayat held during POSHAN Maah 2022

A one-day training programme on Science, Mathematics and English was organised on 20th August,2022 under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme at Bidyamandir HS School, Pandu, Guwahati in collaboration with the Education Department, Kamrup Metro and Educative Guwahati. The objective of the programme is to support Students appearing for their examinations who have been majorly impacted due to pandemic leading to school closure. The pandemic has deprived them of basic concepts especially in the subjects like Mathematics, Science & English.

District Administration and Women and Child Development, Kamrup Metropolitan District has taken an initiative to adopt two model areas for women under the tittle 'Swabalambi' Under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, Kamrup Metropolitan. The areas are Katahjari Village under Tetelia GP, Dimoria Development Block and Jyotishree Nagar under Lakhara ward, GMC. As a part of the initiative an Inauguration programme of ‘adoption of model areas’ at Tetelia Pathar Village (Katajhari) under Dimoria Development Block was organised on 22nd July,2022 under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. In the programme, educational kits were provided to girl students of the village and name plate in the name of girl child were installed in their household under the initiative 'Swabalambi’. The value of education for girl child is highlighted in the programme.In the programme, Panchayat Official of Tetelia Gaon Panchayat,Teachers, DSWO,CDPO dimoria, Supervisors , DHEW,PMMVY team ,AWWs were present .
On the other hand, a meeting was also organised on 31st august,2022 at Jyotishree nagar Bihutoli. The name plate in the name of girl child were installed in their household under the initiative 'Swabalambi'. In addition, books and some other educational materials were distributed to the students in the area under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme. The officials of the Women and Child Development Department of Kamrup Metropolitan District mentioned various development programs undertaken by the department. The event was attended by World Vision India workers, ward no. 25 councillors, Bharatiya Janata Party State Bharatiya Mahila Morcha General Secretary and local people.

Celebration of Girl Child day and community level awareness programme on various Govt. Schemes with special focus to Children and Women was organized under BBBP, Kamrup Metropolitan District in collaboration with World Vision at Dakhin borsajai, Guwahati on 24th May, 2022. Along with the discussion on various issues and concern relating to women and children, people were also made aware of different schemes, existing provisions and way to avail benefits under the same etc. Mostly covered Domestic Violence, child marriage, Women Helpline number, One stop Centre, Swadhar,Ujjawala Greh, benefits of PMMVY, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana ,Child rights & Child protection system, CHILD HELPLINE Number, ICDS services, , Schemes for Persons with disability etc. 3 Nos of new born girl child with mothers were felicitated with a Baby kit, greetings cards, SSY account opening form in the programme. Leaflets on BBBP were distributed among the participants. The members of Unnyan Committee, Mahila Commitee, SHG Members, School Teachers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, Adolescent Girls and boys were present in the meeting.

A special Health Check-up for Adolescent Girls and Awareness on Menstrual Hygiene Management was organized by Social Welfare Department, Kamrup Metro in-collaboration with Health Department, Kamrup Metro supported by District Level Centre for Women on 27th May 2022 at Sahitya Academy Hall, Chachal Kamrup Metro district. In the programme, a health check-up camp was organized for out of school adolescent girls in the coordination with RBSK Team from health department,Kamrup Metro district.
The resource persons form health Department, Dr. Anushuya Deka and Dr. Trishna Medhi took sessions on menstrual hygiene management, personal hygiene, reproductive health, UTI. Moreover DLCW team delivered speech on Myths related to menstruation with focus on the theme ‘making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030’. At the end of the programme, Sanitary Napkins and BBBP face masks were distributed among the adolescent girls. The participants of the programme were adolescent girls, the community people, Anganwadi workers,Supervisors, ASHA, ANM etc.

On the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene day,2022, an Awareness cm Sanitary Napkin Distribution Camp for adolescent girl at Ikrabari, Hatisila of Kamrup Metro district was organized by DLCW on 27th May 2022. In the Programme DLCW team delivered speech on Menstrual Hygiene Management by covering the points like duration of changing sanitary napkins, Safe disposal of sanitary napkins etc., Myths related to menstruation with focus on the theme ‘making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030’. Moreover, ANM highlighted the importance of Menstrual Hygiene Management. In the end of the programme, Sanitary Napkins and BBBP face mask were distributed among the adolescent girls under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. In the programme along with the adolescents’ girls the community people, Anganwadi workers, ASHA, ANM & CDPO etc. were present.
