TISS Nature Club is an individual entity affiliated to Tata Institute of Social Science, Guwahati composed of like minded students generating environmental awareness and conservation through various social activities to deal with environmental challenges of the 21st century. Environmental consciousness does not and cannot exist in vacuum and thus need social space to find true meaning and relevanc
e. We hope to achieve the critical task of undoing environmental degradation by fostering teamwork and social and ecological sensitivity. It is through groups that we wish to initiate the process of discovering the wonders of nature and the feeling of oneness with its complexities and try to erase our harmful ecological footprints. Our philosophy of environmental education is that there has to be a three fold interaction between individuals, society and environment. NAture Clubs are initiatives towards conservation efforts at societal level which will have direct bearings upon decisions that we make as individuals and members of society in the interest of a sustainable environment. Nature Club members can go on nature trails, organize workshops and invite personalities for talks on various issues related to environmental awareness and conservation, engage themselves in plantation and farming activities as well and also connect themselves with other organizations who have made a presence in the very same field Nature Club is created.
