Report on Voluntary Visit to ICDS Centre, Kyongsa

As part of their spirit of community participation and social responsibility, the First Semester trainees voluntarily visited the ICDS Centre at Kyongsa to contribute towards improving the learning environment for young children.

During the visit, the trainees created and added learning materials to the centre. They also made a small effort to beautify and organise the ICDS centre, keeping in mind the needs and interests of young children. The trainees worked together collaboratively, sitting together, discussing ideas, arranging the materials and contributing their time and effort towards making the space more welcoming and child-friendly.

The activity provided the trainees with an opportunity to move beyond the classroom and understand the importance of contributing to the community in meaningful ways. It also encouraged values of teamwork, cooperation, creativity, empathy and social responsibility, which are important qualities for future teachers.

The visit was particularly meaningful as it coincided with Gratitude Day. Through their voluntary contribution, the trainees expressed gratitude to the community by giving their time, effort and skills in return. Such small acts of service remind them that education is not limited to academic learning but also involves giving back to society and making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Overall, the visit was a meaningful and collaborative experience for the trainees, allowing them to contribute to the ICDS centre while developing a deeper sense of responsibility towards the community they will eventually serve as teachers.
