Happy to all indigenous communities in the world including 730+ Scheduled Tribes in India, allies of indigenous people and to me as well.

फोटो कुछ धुंधली सी हैं लेकिन इस दिन की स्मृतियाँ एकदम साफ। अपना कीमती समय निकाल कर मेरी टीम और मुझे बस्तर के शेल चित्रों के बारे में बताना, जिससे मुझे आपके ज्ञान और संवेदनशीलता दोनों का आभास हुआ।

साथ ही याद है मुझे वो दिन जब आपकी मम्मी और आपने तब तक खाना नहीं खाया था जब तक मेरी टीम और में सुरक्षित घर वापिस नहीं आ गए थे।

कभी नहीं सोचा था कि एक अनजान जगह पर, जहां जाने का उद्देश्य तो सिर्फ़ व्यावसायिक था, वहां एक भाई भी मिल जायेगा।

आखरी में कहना चाहूंगी कि आपने जो यह सिल्कवर्म का कोया (कोकून) मुझे जो दिया वो मैंने आज तक संभाल कर रखा। इसे देखती हूं तो लगता है जैसे आप उस दिन समझाना चाह रहे थे कि परिवार को सबसे महत्वपूर्ण रखना - परिवार है तो सब कुछ है, सब मुश्किल आसान है।

मेरे प्यारे दादी (भाई)आपको मेरे जीवन काल के अंत तक जय सेवा, प्रकृति सेवा और जय जोहार 🙏

फिर मिलेंगे बोलना उचित रहेगा और इस बार 8500 feet ऊंचे पहाड़ से उतरते हुए मैं आपका हाथ पकड़ूंगी ❤️🧿🌌

To celebrate World’s Indigenous Peoples Day on 9 August, UNESCO and Translation Commons are hosting an online event with numerous speakers and performances highlighting Indigenous languages of Asia. The Asian continent is home to a vast array of Indigenous communities. This event aims to raise awareness of the importance of Indigenous language preservation and revitalization across Asia by bringing together Indigenous communities from South and South-East Asia to share viewpoints and promote understanding and cooperation.

I think my favourite line is...

"mujhe unko har din chapati banate hue dekhna hai"

Translation: I have to observe them make bread everyday.

This was said as an example of how Ethnography is about daily observing the mundane things and making sense of it.
