Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana-PMMVY-Kamrup Metropolitan District

A community level awareness programme on various Govt. Schemes with special focus to Children and Women was organized under the banner of BBBP, Kamrup Metropolitan District in collaboration with World Vision at Jyotikuchi Bihu field, Jyotishri Nagar, Guwahati. Along with the discussion on various issues and concern relating to children and women, people were also made aware of different schemes, existing provisions and way to avail benefits under the same etc. Mostly covered Child rights & Child protection system, CHILD HELPLINE Number, ICDS services, Domestic Violence, Women Helpline number, One stop Centre, Trafficking, benefits of PMMVY, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, Schemes for Persons with disability etc. 8 Nos of new born girl child with mothers were felicitated with a gift hamper in the programme. Leaflets on BBBP & PMMVY were distributed among the participants. The members of Unnyan Committee, Mahila Commitee, SHG Members, School Teachers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, Adolescent Girls and boys were present in the meeting.
Towards the end, the team from Social Welfare Dept, Kamrup Metropolitan District visited the Jyotishri Nagar Anganwadi Centre under Central Ghy ICDS Project functioning in the locality.

A community level awareness programme on various schemes and services under Social Welfare Department was organised today at Dhalbam, Garchuk. District Social Welfare Office, Kamrup Metropolitan District in collaboration with 'World Vision India' organized the programme where SHG members, Members of Mahila Committees, Anganwadi and ASHA Workers, children and adolescent participated. Leaflets on PMMVY, BBBP etc. were distributed to the members present in the meeting.

Special gram sabhas for women and children on the occasion of "International Women's Day" 2022, was organized at Tetelia Gaon Panchayat and Panikhaiti Gaon Panchayat by The Social welfare Department and PNRD under Kamrup Meteopolitan District. Issues relating to women and children were discussed and schemes & services were shared in detail. A health camp at Tetelia was also organized.

A two-day Capacity Development Training for selected Supervisors was organized in the Social Welfare Auditorium on ‘Information Education & Communication/ Social and Behaviour Change Communication’ on the 24th and 25th of February, 2022. Mr. Piklu Ghosh, resource person from the National School of Drama guided the sessions. Applied Theater, an innovative way for training involving group activities, mostly physical is used. State Programme Coordinator, Mr. Kulesh Talukdar also graced the occasion as a resource person therefore discussing in-depth the issues and impediments surrounding the scheme in the district respectively.

The Government’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has culminated in efforts to provide holistic health and development services to the nation through several flagship programs. VHND is the critical platform for these policy initiatives.
Therefore, visits are being organized to experience live updates on the functioning and supervision by the workers in assessing people into different schemes according to their eligibilities. The following snapshots are a few glimpses of the centre in action on the VHSND IN THE MONTH OF MARCH, 2021 AT SATGAON ANGANWADI CENTER & NARASASUR SUB CENTER.

 Every year a week-long programme is held under the aegis “MATRU VANDANA SAPTAH” spreading across all the districts of the states. The purpose of the SAPTAH is to create awareness about the scheme as it is one of the flagship schemes lending monetary benefits to pregnant women and lactating mothers. The theme of the Saptah was “towards building a healthy nation – Suraksh*t Janani, Viksit Dharini”.
 To name a few, the activities held during the week are as follows: Placement of hoardings at key locations; Jingle to be aired; mother-daughter selfie; District level convergence with key stakeholders; information booth; door-to-door Campaign; VHSND; Recipe Demonstration competition; backlog clearance; felicitation of the best performers, etc. etc.

A District Level Review Meeting was held at the O/o the District Social Welfare Officer, Kamrup Metropolitan District in the presence of the DPO, Kamrup, DSWO, Kamrup Metro, SPC, PMMVY Assam. All CDPOs, Nominated Supervisors, SAs and DEOs participated. Dated: 23rd December, 2020.
