At the heart of our work is a simple belief: parents are their child’s strongest support system. Our approach focuses on empowering parents with the confidence and skills they need to support their child’s growth and development at home.

Children spend only 30-40 minutes a day in any therapy setting, but they spend the rest of their time with their caregivers. When parents are involved in therapy, the impact is deeper and more lasting. That’s why our therapists work alongside parents, guiding them through play-based activities, involving them in every step, and helping them carry these practices into everyday life.

These testimonies come from parents who attend our Early Intervention outreach sessions in Morigaon, supported by our Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) workers under the Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Program. The program is currently active in Morigaon and Goalpara.

Beyond these districts, outreach sessions also take place in Golaghat, Rangia, and Chirang, with new sessions recently beginning in Nalbari. Our therapists are also based at the Dibrugarh and Guwahati, where children receive daily support.

As both the mothers share in these testimonies, this hands-on, home-based approach has led to visible progress in their children. Every child’s journey of growth and development is unique, and these children are just beginning theirs.

Voices from the ground.

From yesterday’s World Autism Awareness Day, a member of our team and a parent of a child with autism came together to share their experiences, reflections, and learnings. From understanding everyday challenges to celebrating small milestones, their conversation reflects the power of working together—parents and professionals—towards the same goal.

At Shishu Sarothi, inclusion grows stronger when we listen, learn, and build together.

Early intervention remains at the heart of building inclusive futures.

As part of our outreach, one team organised a Free Play event in Goalpara, creating a safe and engaging space for children to learn, interact, and explore. At the same time, another team travelled to Silbheta in Bokakhat (Golaghat district) to conduct awareness sessions on disability with school teachers and parent groups.

These parallel efforts focused on strengthening understanding, encouraging early identification, and building supportive ecosystems for children with disabilities within communities.

We organized a 2-day Regional Training program on Deafblindness on 26th–27th March 2025, supported by .india and - bringing together participants from Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Nagaland to create a strong platform for learning, sharing, and collaboration.

The sessions focused on understanding Deafblindness and different modes of communication, while also highlighting our SPARSH program’s initiatives—centre and home-based services, including support for income-generating activities for children and persons with deafblindness and multiple disabilities.

Discussions also covered the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD Act, 2016), advocacy, and inclusive education. Participants’ feedback reflected the value of the training, strengthening regional networks and a shared commitment to improving services and support systems.

At Shishu Sarothi, Women’s Day is not just a day—it is a celebration we carry with us every day.

We wish to honour the mothers of our children, whose strength, patience, and unwavering love make inclusion possible. Their resilience, courage, and quiet determination remind us that behind every child’s journey is a mother who believes, supports, and never gives up.

We celebrate them not just today, but every day.
