ITI Skills Competition 2026, organised by the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training (DECT), Government of Assam, concluded today with a closing ceremony at Govt. ITI Guwahati under the chairmanship of Shri Narendra Kumar Shah, IAS, Director, Employment & Craftsmen Training. The event was graced by several dignitaries including Shri Pranjit Das, Joint Director (I/C), Shri Ranjit Borthakur, Deputy Director, Shri Bharat Bhusan Das, GM, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and Chairman of the Institute Management Committee, and Ms Aibhee Lata Boro, Sr. Principal, ITI Guwahati.

The competition was conducted in three stages - Intra-ITI, Zonal and State Level with participation from Government, PPP and Private ITIs across Assam. A total of 22 trades, including advanced trades such as Industrial Robotics, Digital Manufacturing Technician, Basic Designer & Virtual Verifier (Mechanical), ICT System Maintenance and Solar Technician (Electrical), were featured.

The State Level Competition was held from 10–11 March 2026 at Govt. ITI Guwahati, Govt. ITI Guwahati (Women), Govt. ITI Nalbari and TRTC, among 81 zonal winners. The event aims to motivate trainees and prepare them for national and international skill competitions, making them ready for global skill challenges.

On 26th February 2026, Hon’ble Chief Minister ceremonially transferred benefits to 48,319 graduates and 2,112 research scholars under the Jibon Prerana and Jibon Anuprerana schemes, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to nurture talent, research and aspirations. Support was also extended to 47,395 first year UG and PG students under Nijut Babu to encourage continuity in higher education.

Simultaneously, the virtual inauguration of 31 Industry 4.0 Technology Centres across 17 ITIs and 14 Polytechnics, in collaboration with Tata Technologies, marks a transformative leap toward advanced skills, innovation, and future ready education.

The Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training (DECT), Assam is organizing the Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) Skills Competition 2026 – Intra ITI Level on 6th & 7th February 2026 across 150 ITIs (Government, PPP and Private) covering 22 trades throughout the State.

This initiative aims to encourage excellence in skill training, boost confidence among trainees, and promote innovation and practical learning. The competition provides a common platform for both SCVT and NCVT trainees, including current students and those who have completed their ITI training within the last three academic years.

The objective is to identify and nurture talented trainees who can represent Assam at the Zonal, State, India Skills and World Skills Competitions, while strengthening the culture of quality skill training in ITIs.

🏆 What’s Next?
• One winner from each trade at the institute level will advance to the Zonal Level Competition (tentatively on 16th & 17th February 2026).
• Zonal winners will then compete at the State Level.
Through this competition, DECT Assam continues its commitment to empowering youth with industry-ready skills and creating future-ready professionals.

On 29th January 2026, the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training Assam successfully organized an Exhibition of Career Courses at Udayan Kristi Sangha, Lokhra, Guwahati, bringing together 28 institutions from across India.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 1,000 students and featured a dedicated Career Counselling Session by Mr. Dipankar Bhattacharyya, providing valuable guidance to aspiring youth.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Gyanendra Dev Tripathi, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department, in the presence of Shri Narendra Kumar Shah, IAS, Director, Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training.

Their insightful addresses inspired students and emphasized the importance of informed career choices.
