đŋ World Wetlands Day 2026 | Tihulia Beel, Morigaon đŋ
The Directorate of Fisheries, Assam, in collaboration with ARIAS Society, organised a community-based awareness programme today at Tihulia Beel, Morigaon, to mark World Wetlands Day 2026. An awareness session on wetland conservation was conducted by Dr. Sanjay Sarma, District Fisheries Development Officer, Kamrup, focusing on the importance of wetlands and fisheries-based livelihoods. This was followed by a key address by Dr. Ramendra Chandra Barman, Deputy Director, Directorate of Fisheries, Assam, who highlighted the link between wetlands, food security, and community-led conservation.
An interactive discussion was facilitated by Ms. Sheetal Sharma, Social Safeguard Specialist, ARIAS Society, engaging local communities on traditional practices and challenges related to wetland use. The programme emphasised the ecological importance of wetlands, their role in sustaining fisheries-based livelihoods, and the value of traditional knowledge in wetland conservation, with active participation from local communities.

đž Common Facility Centre Hanhchara, Jorhat đž
Shri Jay Shivani, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Jorhat, today visited the 4TPH rice processing Common Facility Centre (CFC) at Hanhchara, Jorhat to inspect the ongoing commercial production at the facility. The project has been setup with a project cost of Rs 7.39crs with 80% grant under APART and machinery technology from SATAKE.
This CFC is a significant step towards empowering local rice producers and enhancing rice processing capacity in the region. Through modern technology and collaborative efforts, the Jorhat Rice CFC aims to enhance productivity, improve the quality of rice milling, and promote value addition for the benefit of local farmers and entrepreneurs đą

Shri Virendra Mittal, IAS, State Project Director, ARIAS Society, visited the Common Facility Centre at No. 1 Kaki, Hojai district, on 29th December 2025. The 5 TPH capacity raw rice processing unit, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, is supported under the APART project. Established at a total project cost of âš8.2 crore, the facility marks a significant step towards strengthening agro-processing infrastructure in the region. đą

On 12th December 2025, the Knowledge Sharing Session under APART was held at the Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara. The meeting was chaired by Smt. Aruna Rajoria, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, Agriculture Department & APC, and Chairperson, ARIAS Society.
The session was attended by Shri Virendra Mittal, IAS, State Project Director, ARIAS Society; Dr. P. Uday Praveen, IAS, Director of Agriculture, Assam; OPIU Heads; Nodal Officers; and officials from the implementing departments and ARIAS Society.
