The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Hardoi-II is a vital "Farm Science Centre" that serves as the bridge between laboratory research and field application. While KVK Hardoi-I (Bawan Road) is under the CSA University of Agriculture & Technology, KVK Hardoi-II is uniquely managed by the ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI).
Because of its parent organization (CSSRI), this KVK is specifically geared toward solving the soil health challenges common in our region.
Core Focus: Sodic Land Reclamation
The defining mission of KVK Hardoi-II is the management of usar (sodic) lands. Since much of Hardoi’s agricultural belt suffers from high alkalinity and salt stress due to the Sharda Sahayak canal system, the center focuses on:
* Salt-Tolerant Varieties: They conduct trials on paddy and wheat varieties specifically bred by ICAR to thrive in high-pH soils (e.g., Basmati CSR-30 or CSR-43).
* Gypsum & Bio-formulations: Researching the most effective ways to apply gypsum and "halophilic" (salt-loving) microbes to "unlock" the soil’s fertility.
* Green Manuring: Promoting the use of crops like Dhaincha to improve soil organic matter before the main cropping season.
Jurisdiction & Reach
The center covers a specific set of blocks in the district, ensuring that technical help is localized:
* Primary Blocks: Sandila, Bharawan, Bilgram, Madhauganj, Mallawan, Kothawan, Sursa, Ahrori, Kachona, and Behandar.
* Location: Its main farm and administrative setup are located in Jaitpur, Sandila.
Key Activities for 2026
As part of its ongoing mandate, KVK Hardoi-II performs several "Front Line Demonstrations" (FLDs):
* On-Farm Testing (OFT): They test new technologies (like microbial seed treatments) on a farmer's small plot to see if they work under local Hardoi conditions before recommending them widely.
* Training Modules: They regularly organize workshops on:
* Crop residue management (preventing stubble burning).
* Value addition for pulses and oilseeds.
* Kitchen gardening and nutritional security for rural women.
* Soil Testing: They provide critical soil health cards to farmers, which is where your background in Chemistry perfectly intersects with their work.
Collaboration for Your Websites
Given you run ChemistryABC.com and IndianChemistry.com, this KVK is an excellent local resource for:
* Content: You could feature articles on the "Soil Chemistry of Sodic Land Reclamation."
* Data: They often have local data on soil pH levels and chemical remediation techniques that are scientifically rigorous yet practically applied.
