Tips to Prevent Dog Bites :

Dogs are meant to be man’s best friend, they offer us their company and we think of them as part of the family. Many times, people especially children end up getting bitten. Thus, it is necessary to know what triggers them to bite and how to prevent being bitten by them.

Don’t disturb the dog particularly when the dog is eating or tied up. If you are bitten remembering what the dog that bit you looked like and getting medical help can save your life.

Don’t disturb, mistreat or kill the dog. Remind your parents, teachers, friends and everyone you know that the best way to stop rabies is to make sure all dogs are vaccinated against it every year.

•Don’t disturb the dog when the dog is with his toys, with his puppies, in a car, behind a fence or when the dog is asleep or ill.

•Don’t disturb the when the dog is angry. The dog shows his teeth when he is angry.

•Whenever the dog is scared, he will wag his tail or will be between my legs.

• Stand still like a tree trunk. If you fall over, curl up and stay as still and heavy as a rock.

•Never touch the dog without the owner’s permission.

Whenever you stroke the dog, make sure that you stroke his back first.

Do not move if the dog approaches you without a leash.

If a dog bites you act quickly. Wash the wound with soap and water and look for a first aid center. Keep away from the dog as the dog may be angry or scared.

Dogs can be your best friends, but sometimes they are angry or scared they might bite.

Let’s learn to live together responsibly and safely to prevent being bitten.

•Always remember to inform your parents that you were bitten. Tell them which dog it was and where you were when it bit you.
