For thousands of years we are worshipping cow as mother and divine. The Vedas described cow as "Kamadhenu" and they are the abode of the Goddess of wealth. Cow has been in our lives for many generations support
ing our agriculture and the by-products of cow have been used as alternate fuel. Even though cow has such great place in our heritage, culture and lives but lately, due to many reasons, it is being sent for slaughter. Because of which the cow population is reducing drastically and could go extinct is necessary steps are not taken on an urgent basis. To do our part and implement solutions to protect cows, we have taken certain steps. Muralidhar Rao, we have started "Murlidhara Godhamam" with 180 cows at Bornapalli Village, Jagtial District, Karimnagar, Telangana. The solutions being explored and being implemented should ensure at least a handful of grass to Gau Matha every day is our motto. Our Godhamam (Gaushala) has been setup in a remote village to showcase and build confidence for marginal farmers (who own 2 to 3 cows) that locally they can generate income from cow based by-products. As part of developing local self-sustainable solutions for marginal farmers, options to make cow based by-products are being developed. Trainings and necessary equipment are being provided to them so that they can generate additional income source. We have a strong vision to provide marginal and rural farmers additional income options. Multiple revenue generation options in the form of cow based by-products (food, pooja items, daily human use, etc.,) are being developed to support cows and their well-being. Differently abled, women and youth are being trained to make cow based by-products so that they can generate income source. It is helping them stand on their feet and create identity for themselves in true sense making them "Swalamban" and "Athma Nirbar". Some unique features of our Godhamam are:
a) Cows are free grazing,
b) Surrounded by a large forest,
c) Devine Godavari river flowing next to our Godhamam, (during summer grass on the river bed a continuous rich source of food),
d) Traditional and ancient grazing methods are followed
