BIS Hyderabad organized an Industrial Exposure Visit for the Students of Dept of Civil Engineering, OU
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Hyderabad Branch Office, organized an Industrial Exposure Visit for the students of the Civil Engineering Department, Osmania University on 27th October 2025.
A group of 50 enthusiastic students, accompanied by their faculty members, visited Sagar Cements Ltd., Suryapet. The visit provided them with valuable insights into the complete process of cement manufacturing, from limestone crushing to final packaging. Students closely observed each stage of production and testing, witnessing how Indian Standards are meticulously followed at every step to ensure quality and consistency.
Industry experts from Sagar Cements guided the students throughout the visit, explaining each stage in detail โ from raw material processing and clinker formation to quality testing and packaging. The visit served as a practical learning experience, helping students bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industrial application, and reinforcing the importance of standards in ensuring product reliability and safety.

As part of World Standards Day 2025 celebrations, BIS Hyderabad Branch Office organized Manak Mahotsava 2025 at The Manohar Hotel, Hyderabad.
Honโble Minister Shri N. Uttam Kumar Reddy graced the event as Chief Guest and highlighted that โIn Telangana, Quality and Standards are our first priority.โ The celebration featured inspiring speeches, cultural performances, Quality Pledge, and felicitation of the best mentors, Standard Clubs, industries, and government departments. ๐๏ธ

*BIS Hyderabad Organizes Stakeholder Conclave at Nalgonda District as part of WSD-2025*
As part of the World Standards Day 2025 Celebrations, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Hyderabad Branch Office, organized a Stakeholder Conclave at Nalgonda District on 7th October 2025. The event aimed to strengthen partnerships among stakeholders and promote awareness on the importance of standards in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The programme witnessed an active participation of over 140 stakeholders, including representatives from industries, government departments, jewellers, consumer organizations, and other quality-conscious organizations.

Smt. K. V. Sridevi spoke on *SDG 9:* Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and *SDG 17:* Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting how standardization supports industrial growth and sustainability.
Shri M. Raju presented on *SDG 8:* Decent Work and Labour Safety, emphasizing the significance of standards in ensuring safe, inclusive, and productive workplaces.
Shri Sundararaman presented on Sustainable Practices & Standards Maintainance by the Industry.
Participants actively engaged in discussions, sharing their experiences and suggestions on strengthening standardization practices. An interactive Question and Answer session followed, fostering meaningful dialogue among participants and BIS officials.

All participants took the Quality Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to follow Indian Standards and contribute towards creating a Quality and Sustainable Ecosystem in their respective sectors.

BIS Hyderabad Raids Non-Standard Product Warehouse
* Seizes around Rs. 8 Lakh worth of uncertified products
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Hyderabad Branch Office, conducted a Search and Seizure operation on Tuesday (2nd September 2025) at a warehouse in Secunderabad CTC Complex for violation of the provisions of the BIS Act, 2016. The enforcement operation was carried out under the direction of Shri P.V. Srikanth, Director & Head, and led by Shri Rakesh Tanneeru, Director, along with the BIS Hyderabad Team.
During the raid, a total of 225 consumer goods, including Domestic Electric Food Mixers, Domestic Pressure Cookers, Heat Plates, Ceiling Fans, and Electric Iron Boxes, were found stored and offered for sale without the mandatory BIS Certification. These products fall under the purview of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) issued by the Government of India, making BIS certification compulsory. The seized products, which were being sold without the requisite BIS Standard Mark, are estimated to be worth more than Rs. 8 lakhs.
