N. Shankar, Addl. Secretary to Govt. & Director(FAC).
The program witnessed that, to enlightening and engaging the event featuring talks and interactive sessions aimed at raising awareness on groundwater recharge and management practices in urban areas in the state of Telangana.

As a part of Awareness campaign under NHP Ground Water Department and Reliance Foundation kamareddy has conducted a programme at Bhavanipet Village of Machareddy Mandal kamareddy district on Sustainable Development and Maintenance and Control of ground water. In this programme DGWO Kamareddy has briefed to the farmers the importance and management of ground water, Walta Act to the farmers in Kamareddy district. In this programme District Agriculture Officer, District Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Officer Project Officer, Reliance Foundation MPTC and Farmers participated.

Collection of ground water samples in data gaps/ hot spots from field in ground water monitoring network of telangana & all collected data is analysed in the field as in site using Mobile Water Quality Laboratory Van for basic parameters i.e., Agricultural suitability as part of it the samples collected and analysed in Panditapuram (V) of Raghunadhapaem (M) of Khammam district and Shanigapuram (V) of Mahabubabad district.

District Ground Water Officer, Kamareddy district informed that during field visit in the out skirts of Basanapally Village , Rajapet mandal of Kamareddy district the field officers have reported intertrappean bed found in Deccan traps. These beds are fossiliferous ash beds containing fossils belongs to Gastropod class,The paleoclimate conditions of the area infers that these beds are formed under aquatic environment (lacustrine, Fluvial environs) existed around 60 to 65 Million Years age.

As a part of water cycle, ground water is a major contributor to flow on streams and rivers and has strong influence on river and wetland habitats for plants and animals. Although ground water is unseen people have been using ground water for thousands of years and continue to use today , largely for drinking water and irrigation. Life on earth depends on ground water.
