🪴 It was a pleasure to host the Jharkhand Biodiversity Board delegation at our office for a knowledge-sharing visit. The delegation was led by Shri Vishwa Nath Shah, IFS (Chairperson, JBB) and Shri Manish Kumar (Accounts Officer, JBB), …with the aim of learning from each other and sharing best practices for the effective implementation of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.”

🪴 Under the guidance of our Secretary, Shri Kalicharan S. Khartade, IAS, discussions were held on implementation of the Act, Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS), the role of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs), protection of Biodiversity Heritage Sites (BHS), and administrative mechanisms including board functioning and accounts.

🪴 A major highlight was the delegation’s visit to Telangana’s local Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) and Heritage Sites (BHS). These field visits gave the team a firsthand look at how our state works with local communities to protect nature. It was a great opportunity to show how conservation works on the ground and how local people play a key role in guarding our natural resources.

🪴 The interaction was simple, productive, and focused on strengthening cooperation between states for effective biodiversity conservation.

🕊️ A Life Lost to Negligence — This Must Stop 🪁

A migrant labourer lost his life after his throat was slit by Chinese / glass-coated manja while riding a bike in Sangareddy.
This tragic incident is not just an accident — it is a man-made disaster caused by the use of banned kite strings.

Every year, illegal Chinese manja claims innocent human lives, injures birds, and damages our biodiversity.
Despite repeated bans and awareness, such negligence continues to cost lives.

🚫 Chinese Manja is BANNED
🕊️ Birds have the right to fly freely
🌿 Human lives matter
🪁 Celebrate festivals responsibly

Let us pledge to:
✔️ Say NO to Chinese / glass-coated manja
✔️ Use safe Sada Manja only
✔️ Protect birds, people, and nature
✔️ Report illegal sale of banned manja

Festivals should spread joy, not grief.

🙏 A humble appeal from Telangana Biodiversity to all citizens —
Your one responsible choice can save many lives.

🪁🕊️ This Sankranthi, let’s ensure our "Sky Full of Dreams" doesn't become a "Sky of Danger." Every piece of synthetic/nylon Manja is a death sentence for birds and a hazard for us. Choose compassion over competition. Switch to Sada Manja and celebrate responsibly. 🪁🕊️
