Instagram stunts trigger police action against Hyderabad trio
Attapur police arrested three youths after they were allegedly found performing bike stunts and riding at high speed near Pillar No. 257 on the night of October 6.
The incident came to light during routine patrolling near the Flipkart godown when police noticed a video circulating on social media. The footage showed three youths riding Honda Dio scooters without registration number plates and performing stunts on the road.
Police said the riders were driving in a rash and negligent manner, creating a risk for other road users. The footage was also uploaded to Instagram.
Based on a complaint by Attapur patrol car in-charge K. Anjaneyulu, police registered a case and began an investigation. The three riders were subsequently identified and arrested.
The accused were identified as Md. Mohinudin alias Mohin, 24, son of Md. Murtuza and a driver from Nehru Nagar, Kachiguda; Mohammed Rizwan, 21, son of Mohammed Osman and employed in a private company, from Nehru Nagar, Yakutpura; and Tohid, 19, son of Thola Basha and employed in a private company, from CIB Quarters, Kachiguda.
Police advised parents not to give two-wheelers to minors or people without valid driving licences. They also asked parents to monitor their children's social media activity and discourage them from attempting stunts for views and likes.
Police warned that action would be taken against those riding without number plates, driving on the wrong side, racing or performing stunts on public roads and flyovers. The warning also covers areas around Attapur and the P.V. Narasimha Rao Expressway.
Police said CCTV footage and social media monitoring would be used to identify traffic violations. They also warned that relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act would be invoked against violators.
