In 1995, he was made the National Secretary of the party and was in charge of five major states in India– a rare distinction. Promoted as the General Secretary (Organization), in 1998, he revamped the party organization in many states and also served as the spokesperson at the national level, till being entrusted the role of leading Gujarat in October 2001. As the longest serving Chief minister of Gujarat, he has proved that “Good Governance is also Good Politics”. Not only that, he has been a trend setter in the paradigm shift from appeasement politics to developmental politics.
