About our village
Rusirani is a village Near Narani Mata. The villagers are living without electricity, internet and phone but life is still very smooth and people enjoy in their own way. A small celebration easily becomes big when all villagers actively participate. People take decisions together and solve their issues (if arises) by themselves and the old generation plays an important role in
it. History
It is the village where ‘Pandavs’ stayed before the war of ‘Mahabharata’ and made many temples ( stepwells and palaces) to worship lord ‘Shiva’ to get the blessing of ‘Shiva’ to get victory in the war of ‘Mahabharata’. These temples are still in the form of ruins. One of the temples is in better condition as it’s been repaired many times. Population
There are more than 50 families in the village. The total population is 1132. There is only one upper primary school in the village. For further studies village boys and girls have to go to Thanagaji, Alwar and Jaipur. Local villagers are mainly involved in Agriculture. The village is isolated from neighborhood because it is situated on a big hill and there is no road connectivity with other villagers. Only jeeps and SUV can go over the hill. Due to this Rusirani villagers normally don’t come in contact with neighborhood. The village is almost self-sufficient in most things. The local language, festivals, fashion and traditions are not very much changed and people are still living like an old developed civilization. The committee
Rusirani village is managed by its village committee. The village committee members are elected local villagers and a few are non elected ( appointed )educated villagers. Spend a day with us:-
We believe that you want to experience India in the way you like. But if you are a person who want to experience Indian culture directly through local villagers by becoming a part of rural life, Rusirani village is the place you must visit. How your day goes with us:-
Rusirani is about 2hour 30 minutes away from Jaipur city. It is surrounded by Aravali hills. Due to these hills the village is not connected with neighbourhood. Not many people know this village because it is not connected with road, transport, electricity and telecommunication. It is almost isolated from neighbourhood . It has been taken into notice since last two years when some US tourists put it on Tripadvisor and it became popular because of followings:
1. The village is very old (more than a thousand year)
2. Ancient ruins present in the village.
3. Old and almost untouched culture
4. Villagers invite tourist to see the village and arrange transport and food for them with a local family.
5. The village offers a genuine Indian way of living like hundreds years ago. It is not a theme base cultural experience or tour but it is all real village in the middle of nowhere. When a few local and international tourists visited the village they liked the village and culture here but complaint about the bad road
and transport facilities. It is because normally taxi and other tourist cars can't reach to the village. But SUVs and jeeps can easily go over the hill. Villagers operates in the form of a committee and takes decisions together. It is a co-operatively run activity. Two years ago villagers bought a jeep and started carrying guests over the hill through the bad road. As there was no restaurant so they arranged their food with local families. It became popular and now going on like this way. Activities involve following things:
1. Introduction with your local village family and Chai ( Indian
tea)/any other herbal drink available with the village family.
2. Visit to the village and old ancient remains of the village.
3. Back to family for lunch.
4. Community visit to the village from house to house or discussions with local family for cultural exchange and community awareness discussions with villagers.
