Education is, not the preparation of life; education is life itself.” School is a place where young people learn how to think with and through each other, how to jointly puzzle over a problem, how to make sense of discordant views, how to arrive at consensus. The cost burden of educating children is far less than the cost burden of not educating them. Education for girls has particularly striking
social benefits; incomes are higher; maternal and infant mortality rates are lower for educated women, who also have more personal freedom in making choices. Mauranipur block is the remote block of Jhansi district in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. Its boundaries touch with Madhya Pradesh. The main occupation practiced in the region is agriculture and handloom weaving. The handloom weaving has reduced due to push of factory produced fabric. The agriculture in the region is rainfed and the productivity is very low. As a result migration in search of wage work is practiced as coping mechanism. It has negative impact on children’s education. There are government schools for elementary education available in the villages but the quality of education is very poor. To change this scenario, a team of educated local youth started Mother India Public School in 2005 in village Dhawakar of block Mauranipur in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh. Present Status of the School
The school is located on the piece of about 1 acre land. There are 5 rooms in which classes from 1st to 8th standard take place. There are 09 teachers to run the classes. There are 300 children taking education in Mother India Public School. The fee structure ranges from Rs. 125 to Rs. 150 per month. The fee realization percentage is 60%.
