Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu inaugurated the 40th Annual Meeting of the Society for Neurochemistry India (SNCI), being held from September 24 to 26, 2026, at the University campus. Organised by the School of Life Sciences, the international conference focuses on “Integrative Neurochemistry: Neuroinformatics and Therapeutics,” bringing together leading scientists, clinicians, researchers and young scholars from India and abroad.

Inaugurating the conference, Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu highlighted the importance of transforming vast neuroscientific data into effective therapeutic strategies through artificial intelligence, advanced technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration. Coinciding with Pondicherry University’s 40th Foundation Year, the conference features keynote addresses, invited lectures, oral presentations, poster sessions and awards recognising scientific excellence.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu commissioned the Sarojini Naidu Girls’ Hostel at the Pondicherry University Karaikal Campus and interacted with students and staff members.

Prof. K. Tharanikkarasu, Director (Studies) and Centre Head; Mr. R. Gunasekaran, Registrar; Dr. M. Krishna Murthy, Finance Officer; Prof. Y. Venkata Rao, Dean of Students’ Welfare and Prof. C. Satheesh Kumar, Chief Warden graced the occasion. Faculty members, staff and students attended the event.

Pondicherry University organised the “Know Your PM” Interaction Programme on Seva Sankalp Abhiyan at the Mahakavi Subramania Bharathi International Convention Centre, Kalapet, with Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and Chief Rector Shri K. Kailashnathan, IAS (Retd.), as Chief Guest and Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu presiding.
The programme highlighted the values of Seva and Sankalp, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s 25-year public leadership journey, and the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
Students, faculty, Deans, Heads, affiliated and community college students, online participants from Karaikal, Mahe and Port Blair, media representatives, and officials attended the interaction.
The event featured a special address, cultural performances on government initiatives, sapling plantation under Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam, and prize distribution to winners of the university-wide Elocution Competition.
The programme concluded with a call to transform knowledge into service, innovation into social impact, education into empowerment, and collective resolve into nation-building.
