This Independence Day, I spoke to our students about a freedom that lies at the heart of both democracy and education—the freedom to question.
The right to speak, disagree and peacefully dissent is fundamental to our constitutional democracy. But with freedom comes responsibility: to listen, to examine evidence, and to disagree without disrespect.
For a B-school, this has special significance. Education should not merely prepare students to give the right answers; it should give them the courage to ask the right questions—even when those questions are uncomfortable.
A strong democracy, like a strong organisation, is not one where everyone agrees. It is one where people can disagree intelligently, listen respectfully, and move forward responsibly.
That, for me, is an important expression of the freedom we celebrate today.
