🌱 Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026 | Farmer Training Programme at Kandanga Village

As part of Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026, Mr. Veerendra Kumar, SMS (Plant Protection), ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kodagu, conducted a farmer training programme on Natural Farming and the Use of Bio-agents at Kandanga village, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture - ಕೃಷಿ ಇಲಾಖೆ - ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ.

The programme focused on promoting eco-friendly farming practices and creating awareness among farmers about the use of bio-agents for sustainable crop protection and improved soil health.

As part of Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026, Mr. Prabhakar B., SMS (Horticulture), ICAR–KVK Kodagu, conducted a farmer training programme at Herur village, Suntikoppa, Kushalnagar Taluk, in collaboration with the Karnataka State Department of Agriculture The programme focused on soil-test-based nutrient management, balanced use of fertilizers, integrated nutrient management, and sustainable horticultural practices to improve soil health, conserve natural resources and promote sustainable agriculture.

KVK Gonikoppal conducted an orientation session today for 13 final-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students from the College of Agriculture, Hassan, under the Student READY programme (2026–27). The session introduced the students to KVK activities and their responsibilities during the placement period from 20 October to 3 November 2026.

ICAR-KVK Kodagu, in collaboration with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority and NABARD Online, Bengaluru, organized a training-cum-awareness programme on “Export Markets for Agricultural Processed Products”, benefiting 100+ farmers, planters, FPO representatives and entrepreneurs on 15th October 2026 at ICAR-KVK Kodagu.

The programme focused on export opportunities, quality standards, compliance, value addition and market linkages to enhance farmers’ income.

🌿 Scientific Cultivation of Coorg Mandarin Highlighted at CHES, Chettalli

Dr. Sangappa BC, Senior Scientist cm Head, KVK Gonikoppal participated as the Chief Guest in the PM-RKVY project programme at ICAR–CHES, Chettalli, focusing on the scientific cultivation of Coorg Mandarin a GI-tagged fruit renowned for its unique identity and regional significance.

He highlighted the potential of Coorg Mandarin, Butter Fruit and Passion Fruit, emphasizing scientific validation, upscaling and promotion through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmers’ Clubs and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). He also stressed primary and secondary processing, value addition, branding and marketing to enhance farmers’ income, along with promotional activities supporting organic and natural farming. 🌱

KVK Gonikoppal in collaboration with Coffeeboard Ofindia Scientists, conducted a diagnostic field visit to a coffee plantation at Heggala Village, Virajpet Taluk on 7th October 2026.

The team assessed field-level crop health and identified key pest, disease and crop management issues, while providing scientific recommendations and practical solutions to the farmer .☕🌿
