The coastal areas of West Bengal is badly hit by yet another cyclone Yaas today on 26th May 2021. Severe damages have been caused in the coastal areas of Sunderbans, Purba Medinipur districts.

Like last year our Humans In Solidarity (HIS) team have been in touch with the localites of Raidighi and Mousuni islands to receive heart breaking images from these places where houses have destroyed due to torrential rainfall and people are struggling for their survival. We will be providing immediate relief support with dry ration and baby food items in the affected villages in Raidighi and Mousuni islands. We are also supporting community kitchen at Raidighi.

The second wave of COVID in India has paralysed the economy, leaving people in an almost hand-to-mouth situation. Death tolls, job losses, and pay cuts are on the rise each day. Humans In Solidarity (HIS) team is making every possible effort to stand by those in dire need.
Last week we extended ration support to 5 COVID affected rickshaw pullers. We also bought medicines and dry ration for 4 tea seller families. We will continue our fight with limited resources and your support. Please join hands and help us fight this war.

The second wave of COVID-19 has made a disastrous impact in the country. Rising death tolls due to lack of medical treatment has shaken us all.
We, the members of Humans In Solidarity (HIS) team also lost our near and dear ones. But in this trying time we continue to work for the greater good.
A shelter home for girls recently approached our team requesting support for its residents. Their regular funding support was stalled temporarily for an unknown reason which left them in a hand to mouth condition. Last week our team extended support with daily use items. We hope and pray for the safety and good health of all the girls in the shelter home as well as its staff.

The pandemic not only took lives in different parts of the globe, but also created a havoc on the global economy. And in this the worst hit are the daily wage earners.
Our team extended support to several such families for whom arranging two square meals became a severe challenge.

Help for booksellers families 22/06/2020

Hopefully all of you by now, are aware of how Kolkata's college street, our very own Boi Para has been hard hit both by this tenuous lockdown which stretched over two and a half months and the supercyclone that ravaged the state last month, Amphan.

In this scenario Boipara Bachao Mancha, Quarantined Students Youth Network/Stand With College Street, Samantaral Bhavna have come forward to be in support with many small, budding, marginal businessmen and publishers, workers, van-drivers, hawkers, small businessmen associated with the production of block and rubber stamps etc, who are the worst hit of the lockdown and Amphan...

Yesterday they took the streets to reach out to 100 such families with Dry ration and basic medicines.. We, Humans In Solidarity contributed to the initiative with 100 Sanitary Napkins for the families.

Ground Report from Patharpratima K Plot...

It has been a month since the super cyclone Amphan had devastated major portions of Sundarbans. Already the people of this part of West Bengal are trying g to get back to its normalcy anyhow by either repairing their homes or arranging foods. But lockdown is still persistent and causing a major challenge. The 4th phase of our support, thus, directed to one such part of Sundarbans when our team went to the western part of Patharpratima K plot on 20th June.

The K plot is divided into 6 wards and there are nearly 10,000 people living in this island. During Amphan the river embankment on the eastern part got severely affected along with the houses. The villagers, mainly the men came along to repair the damages of the embankment as well as the houses while the children and the women were kept in the local school buildings. Even the electricity got restored in the village few days back. Currently their major challenge is to get back to work but lockdown is acting as major challenge. Nearly 785 people came back to the village who were working as migrant labourers in Delhi, Mumbai etc and now they are without work. There are also people working in the rice mill, cold storage, fishing locally etc on a daily basis and now without any regular income.

So we have decided to support a community kitchen being set up by the local villagers with the help from a local club which will cater to nearly 300-350 most needy people regularly. We supported them with120 kgs of lentil, 500 kgs of rice, 150 kgs of potato, 50 kgs of onion, 5 kgs of garlic, 5 kgs of ginger, 10 kgs of spice, 25 kgs of Salt to run the kitchen.

We are planning sapling plantation and reconstruction work in Sundarbans shortly...Join hands to reconstruct the affected areas...
