On 21 April 2026, Consul General Xu Wei met with Mr. Abhishek Poddar, Chairman of the Eastern Region of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-India economic and trade cooperation.

Consul General Xu highlighted that China and India, as the most populous countries and two major economies, hold enormous potential for cooperation. Under the strategic guidance of the two leaders, China-India relations have continued to improve and develop, delivering a series of tangible results. In 2025, bilateral trade reached a record high, and China once again became India’s largest trading partner. The recent resumption of the direct flight between Kolkata and Kunming further facilitates people-to-people exchanges and cooperation. He expressed the hope that FIEO would capitalize on the opportunity, and leverage China’s networking platforms to achieve tangible business results.

Mr. Poddar stated that FIEO places great importance on the Chinese market and has participated in the and the China Kunming Import and Export Fair for several years. In this June, the Federation will continue to organize its members to the Expo. He noted that China has achieved remarkable progress in infrastructure, boasting a state-of-the-art transport system consisting of roads, rail and aviation. China has set a benchmark that India can certainly learn from. He looks forward to FIEO’s upcoming visit to China to deepen cooperation with Chinese partners.
