Central team comprising CNO, Shri Moinak Mukherjee, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Defence and Technical Officer Smt. Naseema Jamal, Scientist-C, CGWB, ER, Kolkata visited Gangtok District of Sikkim from 08th to 10th July, 2024 as Monsoon Visit of JSA:CTR 2024 with the theme "Nari Shakti se Jal Shakti".

During the Mission LiFE celebration on World Environment Day 2024, Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) Eastern Region, Kolkata, organized a series of special events on June 5, 2024. Led by Dr. Anadi Gayen, Regional Director, the occasion was graced by Sh. Somendra Kumar, DDG, Secretary and Curator of Victoria Memorial Hall, Kolkata, who attended as the Chief Guest.

The technical session was conducted by Sajikrisnan S, Deputy Director of the National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organisation, Kolkata. He enlightened the officers and officials with his lecture on “Application of Thematic Maps in Environmental Assessment.”

The celebration featured a variety of activities, including a plantation drive, poster displays, and opportunities for selfies and pictures with the mascot 'Prakriti.' Discussions on crucial topics like environmental protection, daily practices for green earth development, and enhancing office greenery made the event a grand success.

Day 3 Celebration of Mission LiFE for World Environment Day 2024
On the Third day (29.05.2024) of the Mission LiFE celebration for World Environment Day 2024, Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Eastern Region, Kolkata and Div-XV, jointly took a creative approach in promoting environmental awareness. Under the guidance of Dr. Anadi Gayen, Regional Director of CGWB, ER, Officers and officials collaboratively designed and displayed posters featuring slogans on environmental protection. These posters were strategically placed in common areas throughout the office building, serving as constant reminders of the importance of safeguarding our environment. This initiative aimed to inspire and engage everyone in the office, fostering a collective commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

Day 1 Celebration of Mission LiFE for World Environment Day 2024
On the first day of the Mission LiFE celebration, in conjunction with World Environment Day 2024, the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Eastern Region, Kolkata, organized a special event to raise awareness and mobilize mass action for environmental protection. Under the guidance of Dr. Anadi Gayen, Regional Director of CGWB, ER, Kolkata, the office displayed a series of video documentaries. These documentaries focused on critical topics such as environmental protection, e-waste recycling, water management, and the judicious use of environmental resources. The videos were shown in the common passages of the office premises, aiming to sensitize and educate officers, officials, and visitors alike about the importance of sustainable practices. This initiative is part of a broader effort to foster environmental consciousness and encourage proactive measures to safeguard our planet.

Quarterly Dialogue hosted by CGWB, ER for the fourth Quarter, Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 8th March, 2024

Fourth Quarterly Dialogue for the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands was held on 8-3-2024 in online mode. The dialogue was hosted by Dr. Anadi Gayen, Regional Director, Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Eastern Region (ER), Kolkata.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer, Central Water Commission, CSRO, Coimbatore, Chief Engineer (I/C), Andaman Public Works Department (APWD), Executive Engineer, APWD and Senior Scientist from Central Island Agriculture Research Institute (CIARI), ICAR, Port Blair along with other senior officers from CGGWB, ER, CWC, CSRO and CIARI, Port Blair.
During the meeting, fruitful discussions on close co-ordination between Central and UT Administration of Andaman & Nicobar Islands was held. . It was suggested that based on the recommendations of CGWB, ER, Kolkata on mitigation of water scarcity problem in Port Blair Urban Area (PBUA), follow up action by the APWD/UT Administration may be prepared as a Success Story as per the guidelines on NAQUIM 2.0 being carried out in the PBUA.
A detailed presentation was made by the APWD on project implementation on water conservation and recharge through construction of Check Weirs and Ponds as well as sustainable groundwater development through construction of Bore Wells in South Andaman District. The dialogue ended with Vote of Thanks by the Regional Director, CGWB, ER, Kolkata.

Fourth Quarterly dialogue with States for the State of Sikkim was held on 07.03.2024. Hosted by Dr. Anadi Gayen, Regional Director, CGWB, ER, Kolkata vide online Mode.

It was attended by Chief Engineer, CWC, TB & DBO, Kolkata, Chief Engineer, PHED, Govt. of Sikkim, Chief Engineer, Water Resources Department, Govt. Sikkim, Assistant Director, RMDD, Govt. of Sikkim along with other Senior Officers from CGWB, ER, CWC TB & DBO and WRD, Sikkim.

Productive interactive discussion regarding synergy between Govt. of India Organizations and Organizations of Govt. of Sikkim, in strengthening the Water Resources Sector in the State of Sikkim was held.

The highlight of the Q4 Meeting was an exhaustive and detailed presentation by RMDD on Dhara Vikas Programme on Spring Shed Management and Spring Rejuvenation Programme in the erstwhile West and South District of Sikkim.

International Women’s Day was celebrated in CGWB, ER, Kolkata, on 08.03.2024 on the Theme “Invest in women: Accelerate Progress”, in the overall supervision of Dr. Anadi Gayen, Regional Director. The officers and officials of the Region participated in the program organized on the occasion and deliberated on the importance of overall progress of women in the upliftment of society. They all advocated the ways in which investment in the progress of women in recent years has lead to the advent of women in the mainstream of the society.
Regional Director appreciated the contribution of women officers in ER & Div. XV office, and hoped that it will increase manifold in the coming years. The women officers were felicitated on the occasion for their remarkable and whole hearted contribution in all activities of the Region. Women also expressed their gratitude for the efforts made by the officers & staff for the special event organized to commemorate the Special Day.
