Celebrations of the 46th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The King in Kolkata
The Royal Bhutanese Consulate General (RBCG), Liaison and Transit Office (LTO) in Kolkata came together today to joyfully celebrate the 46th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The king.
The day began with profound prayers at Palden Lhamoi Nye in Dakshineswar and Kalighat, for His Majesty’s long life and continued good health.
Health gift hampers were also distributed to Bhutanese patients currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across Kolkata.

The Royal Government of Bhutan (RGoB) refers patients to hospitals in Kolkata, India for specialized tertiary level treatments which form an essential part of Bhutan’s healthcare system, ensuring access to advanced medical services for Bhutanese patients.
The Royal Bhutanese Consulate General, on behalf of the RGoB signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with 11 selected hospitals in Kolkata in efforts to streamline referral processes and standardize the referral system.

The Royal Bhutanese Consulate General in Kolkata and the Bhutanese in West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha join the nation in offering our felicitations to fellow Bhutanese on the celebration of the 118th National Day.
In commemoration of the joyous occasion of the 118th National Day of Bhutan, the Royal Bhutanese Consulate General in Kolkata hosted a reception at the Consulate premises on 16/12/2025. Officials of the West Bengal Government, members of consular corps in Kolkata, friends of Bhutan and the Bhutanese in Kolkata attended the reception. Shrimati Nandini Chakravarty, Additional Chief Secretary, Home & Hill Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal graced the reception dinner as Chief Guest.
On 17/12/2025, the day was celebrated amongst the Bhutanese community in Kolkata at the Chancery. The program started with hoisting of the national flag, lighting of butter lamp and marchang ceremony. The gathering watched the live telecast of His Majesty’s National Day Address to the Nation.
A blood donation drive by Bhutanese community and Desuup volunteers will be held at TATA Medical Centre on 18/12/2025. The Desuup volunteers for blood donation at Tata Medical Centre also took part in the celebrations of National Day with the Bhutanese community in Kolkata. The Desuups prepared traditional Bhutanese dishes for the guests of the Reception Dinner.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade offers its warmest felicitations to Ambassador Pema Lektup Dorji on receiving dhar from His Majesty The King as the new Foreign Secretary.
Prior to this appointment, he served as Bhutan’s Ambassador at the Permanent Mission in New York.
