PILOT IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAMME : DMC
A Bankers’ Sensitization Programme was organised on 11th July 2025 at DMC Tathya Kendra in presence of Director, SUDA; Commissioner and Chairperson of the Board of Administration, DMC; Secretary, DMC; and officials from SMMU and CMMU. Representatives from Lead Banks and Vulnerable Occupational Groups (VOGs) also participated. The programme aimed to enhance understanding and cooperation for ensuring effective financial inclusion of urban informal workers under DAY-NULM and D-JAY(S) initiatives.

The Directorate of Food Processing Industries (FPI) organized a one-day orientation programme on Credit Linkage for Food Processing Units at the ILGUS Conference Hall. The Director of SUDA & Mission Director of WBSULM, Joint Mission Director, along with SMMU team and SPMU team members under the Food Processing Industries, were present at the programme.

Distribution of Uniforms and Survey Kits for Shelter Staff

On 30th January 2025, the Hon'ble Minister-in-Charge of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Government of West Bengal, presided over a significant event where shelter staff from 21 Shelter Units received essential survey kits. These kits include uniforms, shoes, torches, bags, water bottles, raincoats, umbrellas, and gloves — all designed to support their dedicated work. A first aid box has also been provided for each shelter to ensure basic medical care for residents.

This initiative will empower shelter staff with a distinct identity, enhancing their effectiveness in serving the homeless community. The event was graced by the presence of the Principal Secretory of UD&MA Department , Director, SUDA & Mission Director, WBSULM; Joint Director, SUDA; and Joint Mission Director, WBSULM.

State-Level Workshop on the Pilot Launch of the New Mission on Urban Poverty Alleviation

On 21st November 2024, a significant step toward addressing urban poverty was taken at a State-Level Workshop-cum-Meeting on the New Mission on Urban Poverty Alleviation.
Presided over by the Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, the workshop marked the launch of the pilot phase of this transformative mission, aiming to uplift the urban poor through targeted interventions and collaborative efforts. The Pilot phase was launched at Kolkata MC and Durgapur MC .
Director SUDA, and Mission Director WBSULM , Joint Director SUDA, and Joint Mission Director WBSULM , all members of SLSC , Officials from Kolkata MC and Durgapur MC and officials from different line departments, SLBC Convener Bank and all SMMs and CMMs were present in this meeting .

A survey of street vendors is currently being conducted in various ULBs. Municipal officials are capturing data, while the SMMU and CMMU teams are closely monitoring the process.
