Group Theatre Gotroheen (Dumdum) was registered in 2007 as a Group Theatre. We, at Gotroheen, refuse to put a price on our performance. And people respond.
After every show we send out an appeal, a call for people's contribution, to keep us going. They always do. We refuse ticketing because we refuse to put in place an exclusionist policy for our performances., especially when our shows are funded by people's money channalised through Government grants. এবছর আমাদের বাদল মেলা ১৩তম বর্ষে। আমাদের দর্শকদের কাছে আমরা কৃতজ্ঞ। আপনারা সাথে না থাকলে, পাশে না থাকলে আমাদের পক্ষে এভাবে এত বছর লাগাতার এই মেলা চালিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়া সম্ভব হতোনা। ২০১১ সাল থেকে বাদল মেলা'র শুরু, মাঝে লকডাউনের সময় দু'বছর বন্ধ রাখতে বাধ্য হয়েছিলাম এই মেলা। আজ আর বাদল মেলা শুধুমাত্র গোত্রহীন দমদমের মেলা নয় - এ মেলা সবার। এ মেলা আপনাদেরও। প্রতিবারের মতো আশাকরি এবারেও আপনারা দর্শকাসন পূর্ণ করবেন।

২০১১ সাল থেকে আমাদের, মানে গোত্রহীনের বাদল মেলা চলছে। শহর ও শহরতলী, দক্ষিণ থেকে উত্তরবঙ্গর নাটকের বিভিন্ন দল এই বাদল মেলায় অংশ নিয়েছে। প্যান্ডেমিকের দুটি বছর বাদ দিয়ে নিরবিচ্ছিন্ন চলেছে এই বাদল মেলা। আজ গোত্রহীনের 'বাদল মেলা' পশ্চিমবঙ্গ তথা তার বাইরেও পরিচিতি লাভ করেছে। বাদল সরকারের দর্শনকে অন্ধের মতো অনুসরণ করে নয়, বাদল সরকার নামক আলোতে আমাদের চলার পথ আলোকিত করার প্রয়াসের নামই 'বাদল মেলা'। আপোষহীনতার নাম 'বাদল সরকার'।
যাবতীয় প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক অসহযোগিতার পরও বাদল মেলা চলছে এবং চলবে। কবে, কোথায় খুব শিগগিরই জানানো হবে। বিগত কয়েক বছর যেখানে বাদল মেলা হতো এবার সেইখানে নয়, অন্যত্র আয়োজন করা হয়েছে। আশাকরি কারণটা সবারই জানা।

Project Prometheus and Gotroheen Dumdum, two performance collective of Kolkata, founded in 2016 & 2007 respectively, invite applications from individuals who are passionate about exploring theatre in all its dimensions.
We welcome anyone who is interested in engaging with theatre not just as a performance, but as a collaborative, evolving process that includes:
• Research and development – ideating and shaping a production
• Organization and coordination – managing social media and logistics
• Technical work – for those interested in sound, lighting, or backstage design
• Acting and performance – performing in the production
No particular prior experience is required.
We believe in the decentralization of the theatre space, where every role and contribution is meaningful. We strongly encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities to be part of our collective.
We are looking for just three things:
• Sincerity
• Love & passion for the art
• Curiosity about theatre as a process
