Glimpses from the sensitization workshop for Industry Partnership Opportunities as Captive Employers under DDU-GKY 2.0, held on 2 September 2026 at Karigari Bhawan, Kolkata.

The session brought together prospective captive employers to explore opportunities for stronger industry engagement under DDU-GKY 2.0, with a focus on connecting skill development with sustainable employment opportunities for rural youth.

The workshop was organised by Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development, Government of West Bengal, in the presence of
Smt. Chaitali Chakrabarti, IAS, Project Director, PBSSD, and provided a platform for meaningful dialogue on industry participation, captive employment and building stronger pathways from training to employment.

From taking his first steps into the hospitality industry through DDU-GKY to being felicitated at the ‘At Home’ Reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Abhijit Mishra’s journey is a testament to what skills, determination and opportunity can make possible.

Trained as a Front Office Associate at Sabita Devi Education Trust, Abhijit began his professional journey with Hyatt Regency, Kolkata, and went on to grow as a Senior Associate at Radisson Blu, New Delhi.

On 15 August 2026, he was honoured at Rashtrapati Bhavan, an inspiring milestone in his journey and a proud moment for the DDU-GKY community.

Capacity Building workshop for DDU-GKY 2.0

The Department of Technical Education, Training & Skill Development, Government of West Bengal, through the Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development (PBSSD), organised a two-day Capacity Building workshop - for Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) and District functionaries on 20–21 August 2026 at Karigari Bhawan, Kolkata.

Led by experts from the National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), the workshop focused on strengthening the capacities of PIAs and Districts for the effective implementation of DDU-GKY 2.0, with sessions on programme overview, due diligence, training centre inspection, placement procedures, monitoring and handholding.

A special highlight was the felicitation by Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Shri Jagannath Chattopadhyay, of two DDU-GKY candidates, out of which one candidate was honoured during the 'At Home Reception' at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 15 August 2026, recognising their achievements and inspiring excellence in skill development.

Kaushal Manthan | Regional Conference of Skill Ministers | 17th August, 2026, Kolkata.

Kolkata takes centre stage as States and the Centre come together to deliberate on the transformative potential of PM-SETU, strengthening ITIs, deepening industry partnerships and creating clearer pathways from skilling to meaningful employment.

The conference, chaired by Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, brought together ministers and senior officials from several states and Union Territories to deliberate on strengthening India’s skill ecosystem. Representatives from Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat actively participated in the discussions.

Addressing the Regional Conference, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, emphasised that PM-SETU must go beyond infrastructure to become a comprehensive institutional reform, connecting learners with industry, emerging technologies, quality training and real opportunities.

PM-SETU gives us a historic opportunity to reimagine ITIs as vibrant centres of excellence, innovation and aspiration.

With India’s young talent at the heart of the transformation, the focus remains clear: future-ready skills, industry-aligned training and greater opportunities for upward mobility.
