Multi Mode Hand Gr***de named as "Shivalik", manufactured at Ordnance Factory Khamaria, Jabalpur has successfully cleared first TBRL and then DGQA Evaluation Trials and thereafter User Trials at 3 places I.e., plain, hills in Sikkim and desert. This product is designed by TBRL, Chandigarh and will replace the conventional 36M Hand Gr***de presently being used by Indian Armed Forces.

As per Army’s GSQR specifications, 95% reliability is required i.e. upto 5% Blinds are allowed in the product. Besides, 90% of grenades must function within a delay of 3.5 to 4.5 sec and 10% can function from 4.5 to 5 sec. Stringent specification. Quality achieved by OFK.

Against these specifications, performance of the OFK manufactured Multi Mode Hand Gr***de has been exceptionally well. It has achieved reliability of more than 99.77% as there has been only 2 blinds out of 900 Gr***des used in DGQA and 3 User Trials. All 900 grenades have functioned with a delay timing within 3.5 to 4.5 sec. In this manner, OFK manufactured product surpasses User’s requirements and Design specifications. OFK’s quality is the best available in market. World class quality.

OFK’s quality better than our competitor. Two private players have failed. Third one is yet to match our quality.

This has been achieved by manufacturing in-house Arming and Main Delays with strict quality and environment control. The Assembly process was developed by OFK in-house by using specially designed Tools and Fixtures to eliminate any chance of defect.

OFK has already planned for mass production of this product after receiving BPC from Army. An investment of about Rs. 40 Crores is planned for creating a State of the Art Machining and Assembly Facility at OFK which will have a capacity of manufacturing approx. 5 Lakhs grenades per year.

OFK is all set to meet the expectations of Indian Armed Forces for an old nagging product 36M with high blind rates.

O.F.Board has made a Quality Performance Index for all factories. This initiative was initially conceived as Dashboard from Quality Control section of O.F.Board and completely guided and released by present chairman. It was developed by Information Technology section of OFB with inhouse efforts. It is based on performace in RFR(Returned for Rectification), Rejection, Warranty Services, External Customer Complaint, Internal Customer Complaint, Digital Measurement readiness for Industry 4.0, Export Orientation and Quality audit compliance etc. It is dynamic index and ranking can change depending on data. Data Integrity Manager ensures correctness of data, which is auditable by Quality Audit Group. Crucial data of RFR and Rejection is lifted directly from PPC data from factory automatically.
Rankings appears on the opening page of Comnet, thus every day, all factories at all level see their rank. It has caused immense competition, awareness and brought Key Result Areas into focus. OFB is open to suggestions for improvement.

Prolonged indigenous design efforts made by O.F.Board has been successful. Approval for bulk production of 18 Nos of 155 mm Artillery Gun "DHANUSH" has been given to O.F.B.Further orders after GS evaluation. This gun has higher range and is far superior in performance when compared with Bofors gun.
