Dear old friends from our Chennai days, Fazal and Mridula, along with their son Suhail from San Jose, came to visit for a much needed break. On day 2, after a sumptuous breakfast at home, they headed off to the Bylekuppe and Kushalnagar, to visit Namdroling, the Golden Monastery and other sights.

They also enjoyed a local lunch courtesy of Siddique, our go to taxi guy, and visited the Mathigodu elephant camp before heading back home for tea. The evening was spent with lively discussion, and much laughter. The next day included river rafting at Barapole, and a safari post lunch at Nagarahole Tiger Reserve.

A small step, a big impact 🌿🚯 — On the 8th of June , in front of the Nagarhole Tiger Reserve, Coorg Wildlife Society came together for a powerful initiative: Plastic-Free Awareness Day. Every vehicle entering the reserve was respectfully stopped and checked for plastic. Any plastic items found were placed in the boot of the car — a simple yet effective way to make sure our forests stay as pure and untouched as nature intended. 🌳🐅

This wasn’t just about following rules — it was about building a deeper respect for the wild spaces we share. Plastic doesn’t belong in the jungle. It harms the animals, pollutes the soil, and disrupts the balance of nature.

Let’s carry this awareness forward — not just inside protected areas, but everywhere we go. Keeping our surroundings clean is a responsibility we all share. Because a cleaner environment means a safer future for all living beings.

We hosted the first-ever meet-up of the Coorg chapter of the Old Lawrencian Association (COLA) to be held at a private residence in Coorg — and we loved loved loved every minute of it! 🌿☕

Our dream with this gathering was simple — explore new parts of beautiful Coorg and spotlight the inspiring journeys of our incredible alumni. And what better place to begin than our family home in Kutta, South Coorg — now transformed into Devi Villa, a cozy homestay where the coffee’s always fresh, the laughter is loud, and memories are made over long, leisurely meals. 💚

It was an absolute honour to host this one — conversations, connections, and Coorg magic all came together in the best way possible. We can’t wait to do more of this and discover what OLA is up to in every little corner of the country.
