Humsafar recently organised a two-day solo theatre performance by Neetu titled “Phoolan Devi Banogi Tum?”, where she shared her own story in a very honest and powerful way.

The first day was with our Sakhi Samuh leaders and community women, and the second day with our Yuva Tarang youth. What made it truly special was how deeply people connected with it. Many women and young people saw their own lives reflected in her story they got emotional, opened up, and shared their own experiences.

It didn’t feel like just a performance; it felt real and personal. It created a space where people felt safe to express themselves and be heard.

We’re really grateful to have hosted something so meaningful and heartfelt.

We organized a session with members of the Yuvti Manch focusing on mental health challenges faced by young girls, including family expectations, exam and career stress, psychosomatic symptoms, and the impact of excessive digital use.

The session also encouraged participants to reflect on setting healthy boundaries in relationships and within families. As part of the workshop, participants engaged in a tote bag painting activity where they creatively expressed their emotions and messages of self-love through art.

Young Girls’ Voices for Justice | Towards CSW70 ✊✨

On 12th December, HUMSAFAR organised a UP-level consultation bringing together 90 participants, including young girls and trans–q***r persons, from 9 districts and 15 different organisations.

This powerful space was created for young voices to share lived experiences, raise concerns, and collectively shape demands around justice, equality, and gender-based rights in the lead-up to CSW70. The consultation highlighted the strength of solidarity, intersectional leadership, and the importance of centering young feminist voices in policy and advocacy spaces.

When young girls speak, justice moves forward. 💜🌈

On Constitution Day, we came together for a day-long workshop to revisit the values enshrined in our Preamble Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. Dr. Sandeep Pandey led an insightful session, helping youth understand the Constitution in a way that truly connects with their lived realities. Through shared stories and reflections, young people explored how these constitutional ideals resonate with their daily struggles and how the Preamble empowers them to claim their rights and shape a more inclusive, equitable future.

We recently hosted a Lok Manch ( a dialogue between our community people and local stakeholders) event at Basantkunj sector P, bringing together community members and local leaders to foster open dialogue and collective problem-solving. This platform enables individuals to share their concerns, collaborate on solutions, and drive positive change in their neighborhoods.

By giving people a voice and a seat at the table, we're strengthening democracy and promoting community-led development. We believe that community voices are the driving force behind meaningful change.

A one-day workshop was organized with women leaders, focusing on understanding the different forms of violence faced by women and the laws and legal provisions available to protect their rights. The session aimed to strengthen women’s leadership by building their awareness, confidence, and capacity to take action against gender-based violence in their communities. 💪✨

🌸 Breaking the Silence, One Conversation at a Time 🌸

Our recent two-phase training on "Menstrual Hygiene Management" aimed to go beyond biology to talk about hygiene, management, and the myths that surround menstruation. 💬✨

In the second phase, we dove deeper understanding how "restrictions and taboos around periods are rooted in patriarchy", and how these lead to everyday discrimination and violence against women.

Because menstruation is not a stigma, it’s strength. 💪❤️
Let’s keep questioning, learning, and unlearning together.

Lok Manch- Our Voice, Our Right!!

To strengthen democracy and deepen community participation, we organised Lok Manch at one of our communities "Raheem Nagar" where we connect community members to directly with their local leaders/ stakeholders. Through this we create a space where individuals can openly raise their concerns, seek solutions, and actively contribute to the growth of their communities.

We believe that there is power in the voice of the people!

Through our sessions on Gender, Patriarchy, and Violence across different colleges, we created spaces for students to reflect, share, and learn from their own lived experiences.

Together, we explored how these issues are deeply rooted in our socialisation encouraging young voices to question, unlearn, and build their own perspectives.
