UNICEF says there are 25 million orphans in India.
Orphans who, until yesterday, had no guaranteed right to education.
No place in the census. No legal recognition. No voice.

Yesterday, that changed.
They got the Right to Education.
And for the first time in 80 years, they will be counted.

Ten years ago, you began this battle.
For the weakest. The forgotten.
The Orphans of India.

TEN YEARS.
You fought for them.
You raised your voice when no one was listening.
You made them seen. You made them heard.

What began as a passion project became a mission.
Through tears, heartbreaks, delays, and defeats — you persisted.
With grace, with ferocity, with impossible patience.

And today… look what you did.
The law changed. The future changed.

So proud — beyond words — to be married to The Poulomi Pavini Shukla:
Brilliant lawyer. Fierce author. Gentle heart. Absolute force of nature.

When I first met you, I knew you would change the world.
And today, for 25 million orphan children,
you already have.

We had the chance to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, and we were astounded by its beauty and the air of serenity and tranquility that it exuded. If you ever get the chance, I highly suggest going!

Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And ’tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.

The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:—
But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure…
