🌿🔬 Under the **JIGYASA Programme** of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, **45 students from La Martiniere Girls’ College** visited CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute on **29 May 2026** for an inspiring scientific exposure visit.
The students explored research facilities, interacted with scientists, and learned about plant science, biotechnology, and environmental conservation, fostering curiosity and scientific temper among young minds. 🌱✨

सीएसआईआर-राष्ट्रीय वनस्पति अनुसन्धान संस्थान (सीएसआईआर-एनबीआरआई) में कल बड़े मंगल के पावन अवसर पर विशाल भंडारे एवं तुलसी पौध वितरण कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। 🌿🙏
कार्यक्रम में “वाटर वुमेन ऑफ इंडिया” शिप्रा पाठक ने तुलसी पौध वितरित कर पर्यावरण संरक्षण एवं हरित जीवन शैली अपनाने का संदेश दिया। इस अवसर पर लगभग 1000 तुलसी पौधों का वितरण किया गया।
भीषण गर्मी को ध्यान में रखते हुए आमजन को ओआरएस पेय भी वितरित किया गया। कार्यक्रम श्रद्धा, सेवा, जनस्वास्थ्य जागरूकता एवं पर्यावरण संरक्षण का प्रेरणादायी संगम रहा।

Training Programme on Lotus Cultivation
A one-day training programme on lotus cultivation was organised on 26 May 2026 at the Botanic Garden of CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow. The programme was attended by 22 participants from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, West Bengal, and Odisha, who were awarded certificates at the end of the training. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Ajit Kumar Shasany, Director, CSIR-NBRI, Lucknow, who encouraged participants to take up lotus cultivation as a promising and sustainable activity. Dr. K.J. Singh, Scientist-E & Head of Botanic Garden, conducted sessions on lotus cultivation in home spaces and ponds, along with nutrient management, pest management, and plant care. A practical hands-on session was also held for the participants. The programme marked the first training initiative on lotus cultivation organised by the institute.

Cyclothon: A WED 2026 Pre-Campaign by NBRI EICAP Centre
CSIR-NBRI EIACP organized a Cyclothon as World Environment Day (WED 2026) Pre-Campaign. 150 enthusiastic cyclists participated in the Cyclothon flagged off by Mrs Raveen Tyagi IPS DCP Traffic and Dr. Ajit Kumar Shasany Director CSIR NBRI. The route covered 6 km covering Sikandarbagh, Hazratganj, Kalidas Marg, Lohia Path and Rana Pratap Marg. Cyclothon was followed by orientation of India’s Mission LiFE and pledge to save the environment becoming Pro-Planet-People.

CSIR-NBRI, Lucknow had the privilege of hosting a high-level delegation led by Ms. Ranjana Chopra, IAS, Secretary, along with other senior officials of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), Government of India, for strategic discussions under the proposed Tribal Health Observatory Initiative.
The visit featured a bilateral meeting focused on the capacity building of Tribal Healers, strengthening traditional healthcare knowledge systems, and fostering collaborative research for community well-being. The delegation also toured the various facilities including botanical gardens, herbarium, Raw Drug Repository, interacting closely with scientists and research teams.
The deliberations concluded with a comprehensive wrap-up session outlining immediate action points and future collaborative pathways towards integrating indigenous knowledge with scientific validation for sustainable tribal healthcare development.
