Recently, a Muslim individual entered the Golden Temple complex wearing a skullcap, used water from the Sarovar to rinse his mouth and made the “Tawhid” gesture. He later shared the video on Instagram with an Islamic victory chant.
By any standard, this amounted to a violation of the maryada of the Golden Temple. Yet, remarkably, the individual appears to have faced no consequences. The incident has largely gone unnoticed by Sikh organizations, political leaders, and prominent Sikh voices, both in India and abroad.
The absence of public outrage over such a serious breach is both puzzling and deeply concerning. Why has an incident of this magnitude failed to trigger any meaningful response?
