Veligonda – CBN’s 30-Year Dream Coming True!
The Poola Subbaiah Veligonda Project, for which Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone way back in 1996, is finally set to transform drought and fluoride-hit regions of Prakasam, Nellore and Kadapa. Designed to divert 43.5 TMC of Krishna waters through twin tunnels under the Nallamala hills to irrigate 4.47 lakh acres and supply drinking water to over 15 lakh people, the project has gained massive momentum under the current government. Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu has been closely monitoring works and ensuring R&R for oustees, while senior leader Devineni Uma has consistently backed such irrigation vision. With Phase-1 ready for inauguration and water release, CBN’s decades-old promise is becoming a reality for the farmers of the region!
