*40 Years After Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster: The World Must Discard Dangerous Nuclear Technology and Warfare*
*NAPM calls for time-bound and planned phaseout of nuclear fission energy globally and in India*
26th April, 2026: As the world remembers the 40th year of Chernobyl disaster today; one of the worst technological catastrophes in human history; National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM) re-affirms its commitment to strive for a nuclear-free world. History has taught us very costly lessons through Chernobyl, Fukushima, Hiroshima and Nagasaki and we must collectively ensure that humanity is not threatened and decimated by the nuclear - industrial - military complex of nation-states. We call for a time-bound, planned and full phaseout of nuclear fission energy globally and in India and a pro-active investment by nations and corporations in non-displacing and ecologically safe energy alternatives.

As we celebrate the equality month, remembering the legacies of Bhagat Singh, Jyotiba Phule and Dr B.R. Ambedkar for our fights against social, economic and political inequality, let us join in solidarity with 'Barabari ka Basant', a campaign demanding taxing the ultra rich and standing against inequality.

The letter stated emphatically that there was no consultation even with the members of the National Council for Transgender Persons (NCTP) constituted under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, before bringing in these deeply problematic amendments. At the last minute the NCTP members were invited to Delhi, on 22nd March, 2026; but the Minister, MoSJE didn't meet the Council. As on date, it is reported that multiple members of NCTP have resigned, owing to severe democratic deficit in the entire process and the far-reaching effects this regressive Bill would have on lakhs of transgender persons.
*The Bill severely violates three major judgements of the Supreme Court in NALSA vs Union of India (2014), Puttuswamy vs Union of India (2018) and Jane Kaushik vs. Union of India (2025).*
The letter also pointed out that the Chairperson of the Advisory Committee appointed by the Supreme Court in the Jane Kaushik case, Justice (Retd.) Asha Menon wrote an urgent letter to the Union Government (Minister of MoSJE) on 25-3-2026 to withdraw the Bill, but the Government still went ahead and passed it in Parliament.
The signatories hoped that the President will exercise her constitutional powers in holding back assent and discharge her constitutional and moral responsibility in advancing the rights of some of the most marginalized communities of India

*26th March, 2026:* Expressing alarm and distress at the undue and unjustifiable haste with which the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha passed the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026 over two consecutive days, despite resistance of lakhs of members of transgender, intersex, gender q***r, non-binary communities across India and the vocal opposition within Parliament by many MPs, 140+ lawyers and feminists associated with NAJAR and ALIFA (NAPM) sent an urgent Appeal to the President of India today morning.

UNJUST AND UNLAWFUL US–ISRAELI MILITARY ATTACK ON IRAN MUST END NOW! RETURN TO FAIR NEGOTIATIONS!*
Indian Government Must Shun Silence and Stand for Peace, Civilian Safety, Respect for International Law, and Accountability of Aggressors!
The National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM) strongly condemns the ongoing military assault by the Governments of the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran. This constitutes a gross violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the fundamental principles of diplomacy and peaceful conflict resolution. We demand that the governments of the USA and Israel stop this war immediately, declare a ceasefire and return to mutually respectful and fair negotiations. We further demand that the Government of India condemns this unprovoked attack on a sovereign nation and join international / multilateral efforts to stop this war forthwith.

India’s Union Budget is rarely read as an ecological document. It is approached as an economic plan, a fiscal statement, or a set of sectoral promises. Yet budgets are never neutral. They disclose political priorities, they indicate who is expected to benefit, and they quietly reveal who is rendered invisible. Friends of the Earth India’s Ecological Critique of the Budget, tracking the last three annual budgets, is valuable precisely because it reads fiscal policy as a map of ecological governance. It shows that “green” allocations often travel with a politics that strengthens centralised control, legitimises market facing conservation, and sidelines community rights.

All India Rivers Forum invites you to a webinar on
*Flood Vulnerability, Risk, and Resilience of the River Tawi in Jammu City*
Date : 25 February 2026
Time : 7:00 PM
We will be joined by:
_Anmol Ohri_ – Climate activist based in Jammu; Founder, Climate Front India
_Raffi Sambhyal_ – Researcher and Scholar, Department of Geography, Punjab University
All India Rivers Forum (NAPM) is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
The flood risk of river Tawi has increased considerably. The main contributors to this are Climate Change Impacts like glacier melting at its origin, human interventions like building a barrage to create an artificial lake in the river and reducing the river width and flood plains by doing the River Front Development in Jammu City. The floods in 2025 both upstream and downstream of the river front development is a clear indicator of the blunder in the making.
Raffi Sambyal is a PHD student doing his research on the same subject and Anmol Ohri is a Climate Change Activist from Jammu City. They will take us through the flood vulnerability, risk and resilience for the same.
Do Join with us
