Mumbai: Mangrove clean-up drive in Limca Book of Records
Nearly 25,000 volunteers, led by campaigner Sarthi Gupta, who approached the state mangrove cell for a joint initiative, cleaned up eight mangrove sites — Bandra, Versova, Borivali, Dahisar, Sewri, Gorai, Bhandup and Airoli.

Clean Mangroves campaign of MahaForest has been featured in Limca Book Of Records for managing to clear 8,000 tonnes of plastic from 11.03 sq. km of mangroves from 2015 to May 2018. The success of this initiative is due to 25,000 volunteers of India task force led by Sarthi Gupta. This effort supported by Clean mangroves foundation has cleared debris from Bandra, Versova, Dahisar, Sewri, Bhandup and Airoli. Volunteers across 14 colleges in Mumbai worked tirelessly over weekends. The credit for the success of this campaign goes to Forest Secretary Vikas Kharage, IAS APCCF Dr N Vasudevan, Divisional Forest Officer M.M Panditrao and the entire Forest Department.
