The Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai co-organized a business seminar on 8 April 2026, in collaboration with MIDA Mumbai, MATRADE Mumbai, and the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), at Badri Mahal—the administrative headquarters of the Dawoodi Bohra community in Mumbai.

The session served as a platform for information-sharing on Muslim-friendly tourism, as well as trade and investment opportunities in Malaysia.

Mr. Mohammad Faisal, Director-General of ITC, joined the seminar virtually, while Mr. Shazri Hidayat Abd Shukor, Consul (Investment), and Mr. Muhd Shahrulmiza Zakaria, Consul (Trade), engaged with participants and addressed queries on trade and investment.

On March 2, Deputy Secretary General of MOTAC, Datuk Surrendren Sathasivam, met with WeddingSutra and SOTC Travel Ltd at the Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai.

Hosted by the Consul General of Malaysia in Mumbai together with TM Mumbai, the discussion focused on positioning Malaysia as the premier choice for luxury destination weddings and curated travel experiences for the Indian market.

A milestone meeting in Mumbai!

YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Performing Industry, and Minister for Youth, Sports and Entreprenuer Development of Sarawak and delegation engaged with Mr. Parveen Chander Kumar, Executive Vice President (Commercial) of the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) and team on 6th February 2026 to explore Sarawak’s massive potential for Indian leisure and business travellers.

The delegation was accompanied by Consul General Mr. Ahmad Zuwairi Yusoff and Consul (Investment) Mr. Shazri Hidayat Abd Shukor.

Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai are thrilled with the official signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) between UCSI University Sarawak Campus and Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai, held on 4th February 2026.

This landmark partnership was signed at the Somaiya Vidyavihar campus in the presence of YB Dato Seri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, and Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development of Sarawak.

As noted by the Consul General of Malaysia in Mumbai, Ahmad Zuwairi Yusoff, this partnership serves as a vital instrument of educational diplomacy, strengthening the ties between Malaysia and India through innovation and shared knowledge.

Congratulations to both universities on the collaboration.

On 30 January 2026, Consul General Mr. Ahmad Zuwairi Yusoff, alongside Mr. Chhatwal and Mr. Rajiv Kapoor, General Manager of Fairmont Mumbai, officially inaugurated the Malaysia Food and Culture Event at Merchants Restaurant, Fairmont Mumbai.

During his opening remarks, the Consul General expressed his sincere gratitude to Fairmont Mumbai for this partnership. This showcase of Malaysian performing arts and cuisine arrives at a pivotal moment, aligning with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 initiative to promote our nation's rich cultural tapestry.

This collaborative event is proudly co-organized by Fairmont Mumbai, Tourism Malaysia, Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn Bhd, Ibis Hotel Kuala Lumpur City Centre, and Batik Air.

Consul General of Malaysia hosted a dinner for YAM Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz, Chairman, Board of Directors, Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) at the iconic Khyber Restaurant in Fort, Mumbai on Tuesday 27 January 2026.

Prof.Ts. Dr. Lee Ming Tatt, Director of Postgraduate Office of UCSI University, Mr. Stephen Corneilius, Senior Manager of Global Engagement Office of UCSI University and Home-Based Staffs (HBS) of the Consulate General of Malaysia have also joined the wonderful evening of networking.

YAM Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz was in Mumbai from 26 until 28 January 2026 under the Distinguished Visitor Programme 2025-26 of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
