The event is part of an ongoing exhibition ‘Architectures of Transition - Emergent Practices in South Asia’ that brings together 78 emergent practices shaping Architecture, Landscape & Infrastructure in Public Realm across South Asia.

Mapping the Metropolis > Ahmedabad > Fieldwork > 353 Sites
The Fieldwork took our team to 353 places across the city of Ahmedabad. They visited 353 Public Toilets & documented their status, year of establishment, distribution, size, usability & building condition, location & surrounding context, footfall, quality of space, operating agency, program and accessibility to Differently abled, Senior citizen, Children & Women etc.
This led us to creating a database in the form of an interactive map that govt. agencies can use to evaluate the state of Public Toilets in the city. The study can be instrumental in devising future strategies & frameworks for improving Public Sanitation across the city.

DRAWING NARRATIVES >
Architecture for the Funerary Landscapes [Size-33” x 46”] I Aug 2024
In Hyderabad's urban fabric, crematoriums and graveyards coexist, forming a sacred terrain that's a palimpsest of diverse beliefs, rituals, and memories. This paradoxical space is marked by stigma yet offers refuge from the city's frenzied heartbeat.
‘Drawing Narratives’ seeks to capture this fractured yet fascinating relationship between death, architecture, landscape, and the city, where rituals, contemplative voids, and urban rhythms coexist in a delicate balance. The design intervention unfolds on three planes – landscape, atmosphere, and pavilion – weaving together the tangible and the ephemeral.
Amidst the landscape, serene sanctuaries are crafted, respecting existing graves and providing stillness amidst urban tumult. As a space of reverence and contemplation, it offers a respite from the city's frenetic pace, a sanctuary for the soul.
The design encompasses a range of functions, from practical to sacred, including Ritual Platform, Cold Storage, Changing Rooms, Mundan Yard, Cremation Pyre, Prayer Hall, Asthi Storage, Admin block, Staff Quarters, among others. With precision and restraint, our design etches a gentle footprint, adaptable and replicable, whispering solace to the city's disparate corners.

Transforming Public Restrooms, Transforming Lives
As featured in The Hindu on September 7, 2024:
“Backed by design, these architects are replacing that unwieldy box located inconveniently on footpaths and slowly erasing the social stigma around public restrooms.”
We’re glad to be part of this movement, working with various state governments across India to create safer, more accessible, and dignified public restrooms integrated with Urban Form. Our projects and initiatives are driving change and contributing to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan mission.
