*True Social Support: An Inspiring Incident Unfolded*
On Sunday, March 1, 2026, Lakshamareddy Balaiah Damma, a resident of the remote Avanoor village in Mustabad mandal, Rajanna Sircilla District, Telangana, passed away unexpectedly in Mumbai.
Mr. Lakshamareddy Damma had traveled from Telangana to Mumbai a couple of days earlier to catch a flight to Dubai.
Due to the ongoing Gulf War, his journey got delayed. After spending a day at his son’s PG in Airoli, he moved to a paying guest accommodation (pandi kotidu) in the Gandhinagar area on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
During a Sunday afternoon walk, he felt some distress and headed to nearby Rahat Medicals (BDD 111-112) seeking medicine, where he suddenly collapsed.
Rahat Medical rushed him by ambulance to Nair Hospital, where he was tragically declared dead on arrival due to acute myocardial infarction.
The medical store personnel tried contacting relatives but faced a language barrier, as they didn't understand Hindi—nor did the deceased’s family.
Rahat Medicals called Naresh Kurapati for help, as per assistance from Dr. Sanjay Alle.
Despite being occupied with BDD chawl issues at Nandanvan (the official residence of DCM Shri Eknath Shinde), Naresh rushed to the hospital around 5:00 PM, accompanied by his colleague Vikram Babar from BDD 59.They found the deceased’s elder son, Bappureddy Damma—relatively new to Mumbai, having arrived 6 months back for a job—and his cousin, Ajay Puram, both struggling to navigate the situation.
An unknown Telugu individual named Srinivas, who was present at the hospital premises, noticed the Telugu-speaking family members struggling with communication. He passed on word that hospital authorities required a postmortem.
Once Naresh arrived, he spoke to the deceased's family and Nair Hospital authorities, explaining that the person was fit and healthy, with all clear recent medical tests, and was supposed to fly to Dubai that night. To avoid the distress of a postmortem for a clearly natural death (as diagnosed by Nair Hospital authorities), it was suggested to obtain a private doctor's medical certificate.
Naresh and Vikram Babar coordinated with Dr. Amit Nandoskar at Nirmal Clinic, Parel. After reviewing the deceased’s recent healthy medical records for his Dubai travel and Nair Hospital findings of natural death, the doctor issued Form 4A (Death Medical Certificate). Naresh provided his own Aadhaar details as local surety, and the doctor's consultation fees were borne by Naresh himself.
When they returned to Nair Hospital with the death certificate from the private doctor, police officials informed them of the requirement to record a statement from the deceased's elder son at Worli Police Station.
Naresh, with Vikram Babar, took the deceased's son to Worli Police Station and narrated the whole story to the police officials. The police took the statement of the deceased's elder son and issued Form 4 (No Objection Certificate for disposal of the body and final rites). Naresh guided the officer on duty, Mr. Kailash Pawara at Worli Police Station, regarding the further requirement of Form 7 (Certificate for Dead Body Removal from Mumbai to Telangana), which is mandatory for inter-state transportation.
Meanwhile, through the help of Rajesh Kusle (Shiv Sena - Shinde faction), an ambulance was arranged for inter-state transportation.Once all paperwork at Worli Police Station was completed, the elder son of the deceased and his cousin were taken to a nearby restaurant, with all food expenses borne by Naresh.
They reached Nair Hospital around 11:30 PM, submitted the paperwork to authorities, and received the body. Completed the preservation of the body (icebox, wrapping, and solutions to prevent decomposition) at Nair Hospital and moved out at 12:30 AM.
From there, they secured final clearances from the Executive Health Officer at Kasturba Hospital for carrying the dead body in the ambulance without further hurdles
By 1:00 AM, the family departed Mumbai with the body.
And Naresh was set free after 6 hours of relentless form 5:00 pm to late night 1:00 AM, but journey didnt here, Naresh Kurapati has pledged to continue his support by arranging financial aid and fundraising for the bereaved family. He also spoke to some Telugu dignitaries to help with the family's ambulance charges.
This act of true social support turned a family's darkest hour into a testament to human compassion and the power of Telugu community leadership by Mr. Naresh Kurapati (Robinhood of the Telugu community).
A short while ago , it is been informed that final rituals where completed at Avanoor village in Rajjanna Sircilla District.
